Has Foreign Minister @ProfessorHenn ever been eaten by a boa constrictor?

Greetings,

The Council on Regional Security has appointed me as Prime Minister, in a caretaker capacity, for the remainder of this special election process. For now, all previous appointments and executive orders remain in effect, as we transition into the next government. The goal for this short time is talking with the Cabinet to handle the turnover.

We are, as always, at your service.

Yours Truly,
ProfessorHenn
Caretaker Prime Minister of the South Pacific

Good time of day TSPeoples!

Sorry for the delay of the start of term address! I just want to thank all of you who voted for me to hold this position.

I want to start by introducing my cabinet.
Henn will be Deputy PM with a focus on Foreign Affairs.
LordNwahs will be OWL Director.
Silva will be MoC
Virgny will be MoD

Other positions will be filled as soon as people have been found.

As I stated in my campaign, I plan to have a stand off approach while still maintaining control of the Cabinet. Daily check-ins and weekly group meetings are a must but there will also be biweekly addresses to the Assembly. The People need to know what is up with the Cabinet and it is our responsibility to make sure that happens.

I will open this up for questions now as I don’t have much else to say but Let’s Go TSPie!

Could you present your term agenda?

My FA agenda is to build relations with other regions and amp up our friendships with our current friends.

I want to make sure that OWL is on the forefront of voting for TSP. This means helping to the best of my ability to bring visibility to the votes at hand.

I want to make sure that the RMB is covered with cool events that bring them here and us there. The division between us will always be but it doesn’t have to be so large.
I want to try and fix how our integration is set up but that is going to take more than one term I think and a lot more voices than Mine. I think we need guides on what it means to be TSP for every step and I am hoping I can find someone to help with that.

For MoD- We are gonna keep being the defender boss that we are and lead the way into Freedom for all.

I have a lot of ideas I want to do for this region but don’t know if there will be enough time to do all of them.
I have confidence in the people who I have selected, and hopefully y’all agree with. Everybody wants the best for TSP so let’s make it so.

What other ministers do you plan to appoint, even tentatively? I imagine a MoI given your agenda outlined below?

  • What does this mean in practice?
  • What region profile are you looking at in terms of building relations?
  • Why and in what ways do you think we need to “up our friendship” with current partners?
  • Is your agenda for OWL solely to bring visibility to votes or do you have any other priorities or concerns that should be looked at?
  • Will the Minister of Culture only focus on RMB-based events? How do you envision that helping bridge the “division between us”?
  • Are there any other activities or projects that you want to work on to develop the regional culture?
  • What challenges do you see in terms of integration that need fixing?
  • What do you think of recent discussions about creating opportunities for interested citizens who may want to begin executive careers?
  • What does that mean in terms of specific goals or policies?

Could you expand on those ideas that you have?

MoI is one that I want to get going. And I am not sure if I want to do a MoRP this term or not but I am leaving it open just in case.

In practice this means working with the FA to open our region up to other like minded ones and to have more to do with our current friends be it events or one night parties or even just joining their region to see what they are all about.

It is always important to make sure that our current allies are shown that they are just as important as our new ones. This past term we had one event that wasn’t well attended. I figure we can have a few more this term and make them pop!

I want TSP to be a leading voice in the WA. Our votes count and our people need to get their voices heard. BUT in order to do this we need to better understand OWL as a whole. I want to work with those in the know to make it easier to understand the goings on of the WA so that people understand what they are being asked to vote on.

No I want them to work in conjunction to MoOSE. That was my bad for forgetting that department. I got them confused with MoI for a bit.
I have many ideas on how to bridge the gap but they all include force which I am not allowed to do. However with this downtime we have lost communications with more than half of our region. This isn’t cool. We need to try

Just based on what I have seen in the discord chats, explaining the difference between A Citizen and A Legislator and what you need to do or can do when you register on the forums. Guides are amazing and we need them.

I want to work with the MoD and solidify their plans on how we can keep being awesome.

My term as MoC had me doing interviews with the TSPeoples. We have a large collection of people in TSP and I want to try and showcase as many as possible to show other regions why we are the best and why people should want to be us.

Any plans to make information on Coalition Day festivities available here on the forum?

Also, are there plans to publicize the event on the NationStates site other than the mass telegram, e.g. the WFE, pinned dispatches, etc.?

In my capacity as MoFA, I’ve sent out invitations to all allied regions and have made a post in our GP Embassy. I’ll poke the other ministers to publicize it in greater depth.

We couldn’t fit anything into the WFE, but we have a pinned dispatch and a forum topic now.

Wanted to loop back to some items on the term agenda as we’re nearing the end of the term.

I can see we strengthened our relationship with Europeia and I also recall some cultural events with other regions. Anything else you want to call out here? (e.g. have we gotten in touch with any other regions, even if a treaty remains premature? etc.)

I know we had a range of cultural events this term, including on different platforms. How have your administration’s events encouraged folks to explore our other platforms, and vice versa?

How has your administration sought to bring visibility to OWL votes?

Was your administration able to produce any of these guides?

Given Penguin’s RL circumstances, I’ll step in here and answer a few.

We’re in the early stages of festival planning with TLC, although it is set to occur after this term, and comms with InterLeft and TRTHNBB are very slow going. My fault for that one, I haven’t been following up as much as I would like to.

OWL Director has been regular in starting voting threads and pinging the role on Discord, as well as using the Upvote Squad for upvoting OWL recommendations. A channel was revived to help establish recommendation-writing a bit more, but it is still early in that process.

No, we have not. No excuse other than “we didn’t get to it”.

Not to make it seem weird, but I’m also announcing that @Pronoun will be joining the Foreign Affairs Council as an Advisor. Glad to have them back and hope to start bringing them up to speed on things real quick.

A good day to all TSPers!

Today, I officially take up the role of Prime Minister. As I outlined in my election campaign, I intend for my government to be one that is accountable to all, one that prioritizes action, and one that will promote advancement for those that seek it.

I have already submitted the names that I intend to appoint to the Cabinet to the Assembly, and if these nominations are successful they will take on their roles in less than a week. You can read more about my Cabinet’s plans and the discussions relating to these plans in this thread. On top of that, I will remain as OWL Director for the time being.

One of my first priorities will be to ensure forum integration for the working of this government as much as possible — as useful as Discord is as a platform for working and communication, a strong forum presence is important for reasons of accountability and visibility as well. This will mean regular communication of Cabinet activities forum-side, and a move towards more executive work done on the forum where possible.

I will make several sub-Cabinet level appointments in the next few days, specifically in the Foreign Affairs Council and Domestic Affairs Council. When my Cabinet is appointed, I will empower my Cabinet to make further such appointments as deemed necessary (e.g. Deputy Minister/Junior Minister appointments with access to Cabinet). To promote advancement, opportunities for lower-level staff and volunteers for the various projects in the term ahead will be publicized on the forum, on Discord, and gameside.

TSP is NS’s oldest extant democracy, a region where power has lied with its people for over 21 years. This term is an opportunity for all of us to channel that power in a positive direction, and I hope that you will all join me in seizing this opportunity towards making TSP more vibrant and more resilient than ever.

Is there any particular reason that the Minister of Culture won’t be granted communication powers?

No reason in particular, but if I find that it’s easier for Jay to do his work with rather than without these powers I would reconsider.

Alright. I forget the exact details of it, and by now it’s long been buried on the discord, but I believe we had a situation in another recent cabinet where one of the Ministers lacked communications powers and had to send regional telegrams through another Minister.
Pre-post edit: I found something related to it

I’m generally in the belief that each Minister should be given the toolset to do their job, and I just find it strange that the MoC, who may find themself sending out frequent rtgs to advertise their cultural events (they said they plan to hold, “…one event for each time zone every week…”), doesn’t have the means to do so when they very easily could.
