Utopia Cabinet Nominations and Retentions

The Assembly of the Coalition of the South Pacific,
I hereby state my intention to renominate each member of the current Cabinet.

I declare my intention to retain @Welly as Minister of Foreign Affairs. I nominate them with the following responsibilities:

  • To advance the Coalition’s interests on the interregional stage, to promptly respond to and monitor external situations, to maintain and develop our foreign relationships, to direct the influence of our region abroad, and to cultivate FA talent internally, especially through growing and maintaining our Ambassador program.

I declare my intention to retain @xshotss as Minister of Integration. I nominate them with the following responsibilities:

  • To usher new nations into TSP’s community, to encourage their activity within our region, and to drive their engagement with the things we offer as a region; To encourage our members to join our forums and discord, to recruit new nations to our region, to provide support and information to new members who need help in getting involved in TSP, and to build, maintain, document, and ensure the effective utilization of the infrastructure required to facilitate these integration goals.

I declare my intention to retain @CayonNS and @Flaming as Ministers of Culture. I nominate them with the following responsibilities:

  • To promote the South Pacific’s cultural identity, to hold events both on and off site, to run games and competitions, to work on and engages with cultural projects, to organize cultural projects to promote participation by others, and to inform and entertain the community.

I declare my intention to retain @Pronoun as Director of Technology. I nominate them with the following responsibilities:

  • To track, document, systematize, and support the use of various technological systems within the Coalition; to collaborate with other Ministries on the efficient and effective usage of such systems, and to promote technological development in the region.

The law does not require a vote to retain Ministers, but as they are each being nominated with different responsibilities laid out than what they currently are beholden, they each require an appointment vote.

I am still in discussions about Minister of Defense and will nominate them on a later date.

Sensible choices, it is good to see the Prime Minister making the decision to retain our existing Ministers.

Dream team.

Thank you to Prime Minister Utopia for the nomination and to the Assembly for the chance to present my continued plans as Director of Technology!

Unfortunately, I only had around a week as Director of Technology between receiving Assembly confirmation and taking a leave of absence. Thus, if confirmed, my goals would be largely the same as those I presented in my last agenda.

In short, however, if (re-)confirmed as Director of Technology, my primary objectives would be those that Prime Minister Utopia has laid out:

  • To track, document, systematize, and support the use of various technological systems within the Coalition;
  • To collaborate with other Ministries on the efficient and effective usage of such systems; and
  • To promote technological development in the region.

Tracking Technology

As Director of Technology, I will work to survey and document the tech we already have. In my last agenda, I listed some examples — the graphics repository, the regional nation autologin, and the dispatch system. In the term ahead, I hope to continue surveying the tech we already use, as well as creating documentation for how to use them as necessary.

Identifying Efficient Use

As Director of Technology, I will engage in discussions with other parts of the executive to identify how to effectively use our system. I think this largely goes hand-in-hand with the other goals here. Tech can be used more efficiently when it’s documented (so people can learn to use it, instead of having to track down how to learn to use it). It can also be used more efficiently through discussions within the executive about tech ideas, which can identify which areas existing tech can already serve the needs that exist, and which areas new tech could benefit. I’ve initiated some of these conversations already, but I hope to continue doing so in the term ahead.

Promoting Technological Development

I’ve started discussions with the Cabinet on identifying areas where tech can be useful, and defining the use cases or needs for those projects. I’ve been working on a notification system for executive applications, but I’m actually more excited that I know another minister has been working on a project (I’ll leave the announcement to them). In the term ahead, I hope to open up more projects for public contribution as well, as their need and scope becomes more defined, to promote tech development outside of the Cabinet too.

I know this is a fairly brief agenda. I think my previous agenda mostly still holds true in terms of what I hope to do, and that should contain some more details, but I’m also happy to answer any questions of my plans!

Hello friends, and apologies for the delay. RL caught up to me for a few days. My agenda is unchanged from my statement when Heli appointed me. But I welcome the Assembly’s questions.

Thank you to our Prime Minister Utopia for retaining me as Minister of Integration. I’ve had quite an eventful term and would like to continue doing so.

My main agenda points remain the same:

What did I accomplish?

During my term as Minister of Integration, I have:

  • release the first edition of WARTN, the Ministry of Integration’s imitative to track the region’s progress
  • expand the MoI: Recruitment team’s number of members and get people to actively recruit
  • release the Recruiter Guides, a guide for new recruiters on how to use Asperta, the manual recruitment bot that we use.
  • release the first edition of the Coconut Awards, a set of awards to commemorate our members

What’s next?

Well, I have a few ideas that I would like to implement in the remainder of my term as Minister of Integration. This includes:

  • Recruiter competitions: I am working on getting these set up. Recruiting competitions are competitions for the MoI: Recruitment team to compete over who can send the most amount of telegrams in a set period of time (i.e one month). This will encourage the team to actively recruit further in exchange for prizes (i.e legendary cards).
  • RMB Bot: I am hard at work developing a bot that will welcome new nations in the RMB as well as do other things (details will be released with the bot). I hope to finish it during my term. This project will help new members get situated within the region and access the necessary information to get involved.
  • Discord Welcome Messages: This is another plan I have on my radar, and I will work with the OOC Discord management team to get it finished. Basically, through a custom Discord bot or modifying Coconut, we will implement a template message that gets sent every time a new user joins the Discord. It will remove a lot of cases where members are left unmasked or lost. The project essentially has the same goal as the RMB bot, to help new members get situated within the region and access the necessary information to get involved, except it’s for Discord.
  • Wizard Improvements: Some wizard changes are incoming, basically whenever the Director of Technology is available to do them. I am also looking out for new improvements that could be made.
For now, we are implementing a notification system, a system where ministers/relevant officers are notified when an application pertaining to their field is submitted.

Besides these plans, I will continue working on the projects I’ve already initiated (e.g. the Coconut Awards, a new release of WARTN data, et cetera…)

I’m keeping this brief as I’m essentially just continuing my previous MoI agenda, but I hope that clears up my plans for you.

I’m happy to answer any questions you might have.

Only 3 Nay’s are for Flaming. Would those voting no be able to explain their dissent?
