Calling @UncleJoe
If you would like to join in, please do so when ready!
All righty; lets get started! Welcome, EVERYONE! Welcome to the July 2025 Delegate’s Debate, Hosted by Your Most Benevolent Cakeness, @Griffindor ( @Citizen )
We are coming to you live from Conference Hall right here in Lampshade District at the heart of the South Pacific. I’ll be the moderator of today’s debate for the Delegate election. Today’s debate will consist of three sections: we’ll begin with questions for all three of the candidates, followed by questions for individual candidates, and finally we’ll open the floor up for candidates to ask questions of each other. Sound good to the candidates?
ProfessorHenn — 6:09 PM
Here to run it.
Silva — 6:09 PM
Sounds good
Griffindor — 6:09 PM
Awesome!! Let’s get started with some brief personal introductions. @ProfessorHenn You are up first!
ProfessorHenn — 6:11 PM
Greetings to the South Pacific!!!
I’m ProfessorHenn, also known as Sporaltryus, and I’m a longtime South Pacifican. I first joined NS and the South Pacific in June 2014, and have had something close to three careers within TSP, not to mention various brief stints in other regions. Today, I’m solely a resident of our beautiful Coalition, and bring to the table an established voice.
Griffindor — 6:12 PM
Fabulous, thank you! @Silva; you’re up!
Silva — 6:15 PM
Hello everyone!
I’m Silva, mostly known (I think :p) as Virifortis, founded in the South Pacific some time ago and a resident of it until now.
Despite this, my only position here was Minister of Culture under the Penguin administration and briefly under the Henn administration.
Griffindor — 6:16 PM
Great, thanks! Our first question is for both of you, and @Silva will go first on this question.
Why did you decide that right now was the time to run for Delegate?
Silva — 6:18 PM
Well, I’ve wanted to run for election for a long time, to be honest. Especially the Delegate one, precisely because it has a more symbolic content, I particularly like it a lot. When I found out that Griff could no longer run, I thought it would be interesting to participate and run for the Delegacy.
I’ve rejected many nominations, but this time I decided to do something different. It wasn’t a last minute decision, I’d been thinking about it for a while, and so here we are!
New-Halo — 6:18 PM
Yo
Griffindor — 6:19 PM
AYE! @UncleJoe Y’all!
Thank you @Silva; @ProfessorHenn , your turn to answer the question; Then, I’ll have @UncleJoe give his opening statement and answer to the question
ProfessorHenn — 6:21 PM
I’ve been in the executive and the Cabinet almost continuously for nearly 3 years. We’ve done a lot, I’ve seen a lot, and it’s time for me to step back from it all and let others do their thing. But, service to the Coalition isn’t just in the Cabinet, and I wanted to bring some of that experience into an apolitical role to continue establishing what sort of role the Delegate has in our government.
Griffindor — 6:22 PM
Thank you. @UncleJoe Please give us a short introduction to you!
New-Halo — 6:23 PM
Ok give me sec
Griffindor — 6:26 PM
please do wrap up your thoughts; we do need to keep the debate moving
New-Halo — 6:28 PM
For to long I believe our region has been disconnected.
I, New Halo plan to be the bridge that once again connect gameside and the forums forever.
(I know this was bad lol)
Griffindor — 6:28 PM
Thank you.
Our next question is as follows:
What sort of plans do you have in mind that could boost the ceremonial aspect of the Delegacy?
@ProfessorHenn you’re up
ProfessorHenn — 6:31 PM
I liked our State of the Coalition speeches, and would like to bring something like that to the Assembly’s monthly reports. I would also like to see more ceremonial resolutions passed recognizing the efforts of our citizens, and will work towards that end as well.
Griffindor — 6:32 PM
Thank you. @UncleJoe ?
New-Halo — 6:33 PM
I have none at the moment
Griffindor — 6:33 PM
Ok; thank you. @Silva ?
Silva — 6:35 PM
I’ll allow myself to copy Henn a little (forgive me about that :p), but State of the Coalition is a really good ceremony and I would like to keep it up. Also make more “ceremonial” messages regarding, for example, giving regional official powers to Ministers and, in general, when exercising other powers the Delegate exercises when requested by other authorities.
Griffindor — 6:37 PM
to offer a small follow-up to this question… to be clear, giving the RO powers is not ceremonial, afaik… Do you mean you want a ceremony of sorts to observe it?
Silva — 6:39 PM
Basically, bring something more ceremonial when giving the RO powers to the Ministers.
Griffindor — 6:39 PM
Ok, thank you for the clarification.
As a reminder to the audience, we will be taking your questions in a short while, so be sure to send them my way!
This will be the last of my questions for this section…
Suppose the Prime Minister or CRS gave you an order that you felt was illegal (at least was sufficiently gray); how would you handle that situation?
Apologies, @UncleJoe, you’re up
New-Halo — 6:44 PM
Well if anyone asked me something that I felt was illegal I would first present it to the High Court for legal help. If the High Court deemed it illegal then I would bring it to the assembly.
Griffindor — 6:45 PM
Thank you. @ProfessorHenn ?
ProfessorHenn — 6:46 PM
I would immediately confer with the issuing authority on what legal grounds they felt they had, and if their answer is insufficient or otherwise inappropriate, I would refuse the order and present a case to the High Court.
Griffindor — 6:46 PM
Thank you. @Silva ?
Silva — 6:48 PM
First, I would discuss with the Prime Minister/CRS the reason for my doubts and explain my uncertainty. If we actually found out that it would be illegal, then we wouldn’t do it. Otherwise, If I still couldn’t be sure, I would do a petition to the High Court.
Griffindor — 6:48 PM
Thank you.
We will now move on to audience questions!
I only received two from the RMB, so I will present them both at the same time and allow you to answer in this order: @Silva @UncleJoe @ProfessorHenn
Question 1: How will you present the South Pacific during your term as delegate?
Question 2: How will you keep the region informed and engaged with the coalition during your delegacies?
Discord viewers, please DM me your questions!
Silva — 6:53 PM
I don’t think I understand this question tbh ![]()
Well, as stated in my campaign, I plan to continue with what we currently have, the “Fortnightly Briefings”, always presenting the news in the Coalition, making important announcements and remembering important things like endorsing the Delegate and the Coral Guard.
Griffindor — 6:54 PM
My take is “present” in this context means abroad and/or in-game
New-Halo — 6:56 PM
My turn?
Griffindor — 6:56 PM
I was letting Silva respond, but if you want to start drafting, go ahead, same with you henn (daft in your DM area so you can copy/paste)
Silva — 6:58 PM
I see, I think. Well, as previously stated, the Delegate is the Head of State, then everything I do regarding the South Pacific will be absolutely apolitical. I will support the continuity of the Coalition (as, I believe, the Delegate’s main symbolism), and support the Prime Minister in their decisions. (Sorry if I misunderstood again)
And sorry for the delay.
Griffindor — 6:58 PM
thank you.
whenever you are ready @UncleJoe then @ProfessorHenn
ProfessorHenn — 7:01 PM
We are a region permanently involved in Gameplay, and that requires a certain seriousness to the role of presentation, but we’re also the freakin’ South Pacific and have long been known for the party aesthetic. I’ll represent that aesthetic abroad to the best of my ability.
Both of the current PM candidates have spoken about regular news updates and I don’t intend to step on their toes or side-step it. I’ll work with either one to contribute to the update, perhaps bringing in a sprinkle of that ceremony whenever it’s time to broadcast. “Speech from the Throne” vibes, loosely.
Griffindor — 7:02 PM
thank you.
New-Halo — 7:03 PM
I would like to host a formal state vist where our allies use alts and come and just enjoy The South Pacific and it’s culture. (Sorry if I misunderstood)
I still plan to continue the Fortnightly Adresess. I believe they were a useful and effective tool and it would be very stupid if I didn’t continue them.
Griffindor — 7:04 PM
Thank you all! Two more questions! Please answer rapid fire, and in no particular order:
1: From @UnitedDisneyStates What should be the relationship between the Prime Minister and Delegate?
2: From @Grim Penguin How do you plan to reach all parts of TSP? ie the RMB forums and discord users?
ProfessorHenn — 7:07 PM
The Delegate is there to have a lot of endorsements, not coup, and follow the lawful instructions of others. Anything else is icing on the cake and up to the Prime Minister to request, within reason. The PM was elected to make the hard decisions, so they should make it, not the Delegate.
I’m least active on the RMB but I’ve been posting more regularly lately, and I’m otherwise always available via the forum. Discord is easy to have fights in, so I’m not far behind too.
Griffindor — 7:07 PM
thanks!
Silva — 7:08 PM
The Delegate must always be there when the Prime Minister needs advice and when requested to use their powers according to the law, sure. But, beyond that, the Delegate and the PM have to trust each other and support each other. There must be a relationship of “friendship” between both, hence my expression that this is a position with a “maternal/fraternal” weight.
I plan to be constantly active in all regions, listening to people’s voices and helping them when asked.
Griffindor — 7:09 PM
ty ty
New-Halo — 7:10 PM
They should be in contact daily, or at least a few times a week discussing any conflicts that may arise.
I’m active on all sides of TSP so reaching out shouldn’t be a problem for me.
Griffindor — 7:12 PM
Thank you all! The last two audience questions are both from @The Age of Utopia (Akropii). Please answer rapid fire and in no particular order.
What experience do you currently hold when it comes to maintaining high endorsement counts? Could you explain all methods you plan to use to fulfill that job?
A lighthearted question, Do you plan to bequeath upon yourself extra titles like the ones Griff has at the end of his Fortnightly TGs?
ProfessorHenn — 7:14 PM
I’m a frequent user of Tart.CalRef and will be using Dot’s Slackers command soon. Otherwise, I send out TGs and respond to endorsements where they come up. My hope is that we can secure v1nage soon so the process is a lot easier.
Only the titles that others grant me. It’s like nicknames, you can’t give yourself one.
Silva — 7:14 PM
I admit that my experience has not come from very long ago. My methods are: to endorse all the people in the region; to constantly remind people of the importance of endorsing the Delegate and the Coral Guard and, when necessary, send private TGs asking for endorsements and explaining why this is important for the region’s security.
I just have one in mind, but sure ![]()
New-Halo — 7:16 PM
I have endorsed the entire region multiple times easily reaching over 300 endorsements. The current and best method I use Tart. CalRef and send telegrams to the nations I endorsed making sure they know.
King of Farts
Griffindor — 7:17 PM
Thanks! We will move to questions to each other.
You can ask one question to each of your opponents; tag them so they know its theirs. Otherwise; keep it rapid fire mode!
ProfessorHenn — 7:17 PM
Will we be moving to closers after this? @Griffindor
Griffindor — 7:17 PM
One lighthearted (fun) question, then closers.
New-Halo — 7:18 PM
@ProfessorHenn do you think pineapple pizza is the best pizza?
Griffindor — 7:22 PM
(lets get these questions asked and answered pls)
ProfessorHenn — 7:22 PM
@Silva You’ve not held elected office within the region or been as active on the forum and the RMB. What will you do to gain the confidence of South Pacificans who frequent those parts more than the RMB?
@UncleJoe You caused a diplomatic incident during Pronoun’s term as Prime Minister with one of our closest allies in Europeia. How can the voters be absolutely certain you will not cause additional incidents as Delegate?
Silva — 7:23 PM
@UncleJoe Some people may be insecure because you haven’t held a position before, that is, you don’t have leadership experience, so how can you assure voters that this won’t be a problem? (If two questions are against the rules, then please answer only the first one).
@ProfessorHenn It is known that you are an experienced Prime Minister, but I ask, how would you get used to leaving a long time in a political position and going to an apolitical one?
Ops, I wrote it wrong in New Halo’s question ![]()
Ignore the phrase in parentheses at the end
Griffindor — 7:27 PM
(lets get the answers pls)
ProfessorHenn — 7:28 PM
In response to Silva, I’m taking a step back from frontline politics across the board, and the Delegate’s seat will be no different.
Silva — 7:28 PM
Answering Henn: I would say that I am, actually, active in RMB, even if it doesn’t compare to other members there, I always show up there whenever I can and talk some nonsense and interact with everyone.
Regarding the forums, I plan to interact more there with the people who frequent them, especially the Lampshade Bar and Grill area.
Griffindor — 7:29 PM
Ok; I am going to move on!
One more light hearted question before closing statement: Answer in Rapid Fire
Assuming you get elected, if you were going to coup, how would you do it?
Cake or Pie? (WARNING: I HAVE THE BAN HAMMER IN MY HAND)
ProfessorHenn — 7:30 PM
Ice cream.
Silva — 7:31 PM
I reserve the right to remain silent, but will be very, very cool…
Cake, cake and cake.
New-Halo — 7:31 PM
Sey
Cake
Griffindor — 7:32 PM
Ok! I will give everyone 5 minutes to post their closing statement. Post when you are finished writing!
ProfessorHenn — 7:32 PM
Folks, I’m running for an opportunity to continue serving the region I call home, in the best way I can think of. I ask for your confidence and your trust in this election, as we move into a new era of leadership at the top. If there is anything I could do to help with your concerns, let me know, and I’ll do my damnedest.
Peace among desserts!
Silva — 7:34 PM
I hope I have won the voters’ votes and I hope you can trust me with the Delegacy of this region. The Coalition will live forever, if it depends on me.
Glory to the Coalition!
And glory to the CAKE.
New-Halo — 7:37 PM
People of TSP, we are on the brink of collapse. For 7 months our government just hasn’t worked. We need change and we need it now.
I will be that change that brings TSP into a brighter future.
All i ask for is your confidence in me
Thank you all, New Halo
Griffindor — 7:37 PM
OK!!! My sincerest thanks to you for all showing up to debate, @Silva @ProfessorHenn and @UncleJoe! I invite everyone to continue the conversation on Discord, the RMB, and each candidate’s campaign thread. I’ll also have a transcript of this interview posted in the next couple of hours. And, no matter what, don’t forget to vote! Voting on the forums lasts another 60ish hours! Voting on the RMB will open up after that! Be good and vote like the future of the region depends on it!
