ProfessorHenn for Prime Minister 5

Good to see y’all again!

I won’t take much of your time. This campaign is, at its core, a renewal of my previous one, but it’s not required reading.

BLUF: Continue to work towards consistent recruitment, build up the party culture we believe we have, and do fun things with fun folks so we can enjoy the time we spend in the Greatest Pacific.

The People

Hot dog, where are the new friends we were so accustomed to greeting with a lampshade???

Establishing a recruitment program is already in progress, and my #1 goal is to see it come to fruition. Supplementing the lowered spawns we receive should remain a priority, as is continuing discussions on our Pathways to Engagement and slowly shifting around how we introduce and onboard newcomers within the broader culture. The discussion and implementation of SPROUT should also be continued, so we can secure the Day Two folks who have gone through the muck that is NS recruitment TG hell.

The Party

Where’s the SPIT jugs and hot dog rollers???

Many thanks to Maluhia for kickstarting some non-spam discussions in the Lampshade Bar, and to Pronoun for continuing the mid-term and end-of-term polling started last year. We can keep them up, and get more going. A consistent approach to making the community just feel like a fun, jovial place to exist is always within our grasp.

The Friends

Would y’all be mad if I already sent out the invites to a party we’re hosting. . .

Not much to add on here. Let’s do some festivals, let’s do some holiday-themed stuff with allies and regional partners, let’s continue to work on helping to defend innocent regions with Aegis and let’s get some WA recognition for South Pacificans. I want to see some folks asking FA questions in the Assembly, and seeing our FA team be able to answer it well.

The Now

Thank you to LordNwahs for his leadership over the past few weeks. This upcoming term is elongated, and I ask the region for their confidence and trust in me once more. Please let me know what I can do to help clear up mysteries about my vision, or to help folks out with anything in particular.

Hello, Henn!
Questions:

  1. You will be the style of PM who effectively “leads” the Cabinet (has your own agenda and the Ministers will follow it) or the PM who “advises and accompanies” the Cabinet (Ministers have their own agenda)?
  2. What do you think about the recent hierarchy established in Tidal Force by the then MoD?
  3. How will your Cabinet be formed? Experienced or inexperienced people?
  4. What will your Ministries be?

Thank you in advance.

Henn, do you have any plans to train and encourage citizens to seek office in the cabinet or otherwise encourage more people to run in elections?

Will you continue any of the initiatives/agendas of the current ministers? Will that decision be up to whatever ministers you appoint?

Do you intend to introduce any new initiatives/agendas in this short term?

What is your plan for public communications to the region about your government’s work and activity?

Please be specific.

Connecting on to HS’ question about communication, will you publish a Sunshine release dump from the term (or from past ones too)?

The PM leads both Cabinets, to be fair, but one version is definitely more hands-on with the meat and potatoes of governance. I intend to be that version in this term.

Was this publicly released on the forums? I see the conversation about it in the private Cabinet Office, but not elsewhere on here.

I need passionate folks more than I need experience. If they buy into the vision, or at least a key part of it, and want to see it succeed, I want them on the team.

Continuing on from above, I don’t have a solid picture of how I want to arrange the Ministries. I have a good idea of who I want to be my MoFA, but beyond that is up in the air. Doubly so if the MoFA-candidate refuses the appointment. :stuck_out_tongue:

Absolutely. This ties into my “People” theme of introducing and onboarding newcomers into the culture, to include the political and executive culture, and hopefully make some good lasting changes to how we do our government business. The last term has been good on getting the Assembly back active, but let’s get the executive’s interactions, internal and external, up there too.

Outside of the agenda listed in the campaign, it would have to be a conversation held between myself and the prospective Minister on what they’d want to accomplish on their own, in addition to enacting the broader vision. I couldn’t give you any specifics right now.

No, not at this time. I’ve outlined the agenda I want to see in the campaign otherwise.

Yes.

Alright, but you owe me a glass of SPIT.

I’ll be taking point on comms with the region. I want to send out a roughly every-two-weeks biweekly TG about events and other such happenings, and the “want” in that sentence is only because I’d like the flexibility in ensuring we can time it to be a public announcement of events planned.

In the off weeks, I’ll be informing the Assembly of the regions we’ve been talking to, the progress made on the recruitment project, and other miscellaneous parts of governance. Just as well, I’ll be working with the officer corp on defense reports, although that might not get published directly by me. Should the Assembly or the region have questions directly for the Ministers, they will be encouraged to answer, but I don’t want to run comms this term with the expectation that the PM cannot answer the questions. Lesson learned from last year.

Per our legal requirements, yes. At the very least, we can publish off the old forum without issue, and get working through this forum’s release, and consult on how to accomplish Discord sunshine releases.

What format would this take? (Beyond being a TG.)

Would it be published anywhere else (e.g. Dispatches or the forum)?

How will it be different from Griffindor’s fortnightly updates to the region? Would you coordinate it with him?

Where will you do that and what format will it take?

What do you envision for “defense reports”? What would they contain and where would they be published? Are they different from the Service Reports that we already publish?

I don’t believe there’s a copy on the forums, but it’s available in the SPSF’s public dispatch

To clarify, not commenting on whether I agree with this program or not by linking you to this, just showing where the public “announcement” is located.

Do you have an agenda for how to do that?

How do you plan on communicating that things are being done if what’s being done is confidential and can’t be disclosed (especially with FA stuff)?

Yes, it is cited here.

I can’t help but feel that your campaign uses a lot of words but says very little about your policy positions or goals for the term. What little you say in terms of policy refers to continuing the ongoing recruitment plan, but we don’t get much in terms of concrete policies on how to develop a regional culture, what focus you have for our foreign and military policy, or what will you do to make the region a more dynamic and politically active community. What do you actually plan to do to lead the region and make things happen? And what kinds of things do you want to make happen?

Just curious, per what Kris said, on when we can expect a platform to be posted.

TG with an archive on the forums and sent in #announcements on Discord. I’m not committing to a dispatch for it as well, I don’t think it’s necessary as an archive if we have the copy on the forums.

The Delegate’s updates concern the region beyond the executive. This TG would be coordinated with him to ensure ours covers the executive and his covers all other things he would like to update the region on.

In the Committees, and in a largely unstructured manner. I like ceremony, but doing it takes energy and I’d rather just get the info out there quickly and efficiently that the Assembly is concerned about.

Defense reports == Service Reports.

Thank you, Silva also linked to its location.

We can discuss that an event is being planned with an allied region, and that we expect a public announcement on this date, in terms of confidential items. FA business is essentially the same, we’re in discussion with allies/regional partners/other regions/enemies on matters concerning regional security/WA affairs/culture events/integration. If it’s top secret stuff, then I’d err on the mention that a topic with the need for extreme secrecy is in discussion, and leave it there. I don’t anticipate a lot of that in the pipes, though anything can come barreling down them.

Thanks, boss.

I want us to have a recruitment program, using SPACE and a recognition system (that needs development) as a reward. I want to get commendations/condemnations of TSPers passed and have worked with our allies on this goal prior (as co-authors/vote stackers), so I’d look into reviving those discussions and reaching out to TSPers to get some homegrown talent writing the resolutions. I’d like to see us do more Discord events, and have VCs and topical discussions, and more forum discussions like All Things Cooking for more topics.

I don’t want to promise these things and not deliver on them because the Cabinet couldn’t be there. SPIRIT and WA Resolutions are my priority, if the only Minister in Cabinet is me.

Welcome people in, ask them what they came to NS to do and what they’re looking for, guide them to it if we have it and talk about making it if we don’t. Keep channels and the forum engaged with diverse topics and continue to explore potential new facets of South Pacifican culture. If we have or could find a cartographer, we could dress up a map of Government Island and have streets or building named after prominent South Pacificans. Culture-building, to me, is getting folks onboard with the llama and lampshade idea and seeing them use it naturally. That means using it in communications, official and otherwise, and being welcoming from the start.
