  1. The intelligence on the location of Le Rogue was not conclusive as to whether it was Ernest Le Rogue, or his twin brother Clive Le Rogue.
  2. The target was not killed in a firefight as reported, but was executed when unarmed.
  3. Kill confirmation was performed by visual assessment only, and the identity was not verified.

These conclusions will be discussed in a special parliamentary session tomorrow, where PM Rombold is expected to face widespread criticism for ordering an unlawful execution on foreign soil, and not ensuring on proper verification of the kill.

Referendum Campaigns Begin Under Shadow of Regional Tensions

Varekko, Okhoa— The first wave of international election observers touched down in Varekko on Monday, marking the start of what is expected to be a contentious month-long campaign period ahead of Okhoa’s May 26 status referendum. The vote, which will determine whether Okhoa remains a Zuhlgani protectorate or asserts greater autonomy, has drawn intense regional scrutiny.

Okhoa’s strategic location and rich mineral and gas reserves have made it a flashpoint in Southern Cordilia’s cold war. For Zuhlgan, formal protectorate status would cement military control over the Okhoa territory for the foreseeable future. Krauanagaz’s State Department said in a statement, “Any forced integration violates international law.”

Key Developments:

  • 50 observers from the World Forum and CHRW deployed Monday, with 417 total expected by week’s end
  • Immediate protests: Rival rallies erupted within hours, featuring dueling slogans like “Protectorate = Stability” and “No to Neo-Colonialism!”
  • Curfew imposed: 10 p.m.–5 a.m. lockdowns to “prevent unrest,” though critics call it voter suppression

The Marica Journal - Marica
The Marican social media site Saoupil went down after multiple reports of the Okhoan independence group “Okhoan Independence Movement of Marica” flooded the site with #MakeOkhoaIndependent, #DownWithZhulganiRule, and related hastags ahead of the Okhoan referendum. The CEO of Talakoul, the parent company of Saoupil, posted a header after the site went back online this morning, “As much as Talakoul supports the democratic movements in Okhoa, this does not mean one has the right to overwork the servers with Okhoan independence hastags.” Saoupil also just established a slowmode until the end of the referendum, along with buying multiple new servers to help keep up with more and more posts every day.

PM Rombold sees off a plot to oust him as PM today as the Internationalist faction of the Liberal Party called for a motion of no confidence in the PM of the extra-judicial killing of Ernest LeRogue (ID Not conformed). He was however backed by moderates and the Blancist faction of the party, and has wide public support over the killing.

His relationship with his coalition partners the Green Party has been described as rocky since the enquiry released its conclusions, and he is holding regular talks with Deputy PM Hamilton on keeping the coalition together.

The War in the Southwest:

With the republican consolidation and complete occupation of Ardino and the territories surrouding the large city, the rebels now have an open door to the southwestern provinces of the country. If nothing changes, and even with a large effort by the part of the Visrodin Army, cities such as Petliya, Zdravets and Zlatnitsa will most likely fall over the following weeks.

This forecast for the Kingdom looks so grim due to several factors that give the SRA an upper hand in the southwestern provinces of the country. Firstly, the republican forces are already in the city of Krum, and such dispute of the city essentially cuts the access of the entire west and south of the Kingdom from the north, where the Army is more consolidated and the Kingdom’s political power is centered. With this situation, the logistics in the southern parts of the Kingdom are already under strain, and they depend exclusively on naval routes from the north.

On another hand, with the republican capture of large swaths of territory, cities, garrisons and military storage facilities, the SRA has formed several mechanized, motorized and armored regiments, capable of advancing quickly on the flat, coastal parts of the country. The south and west of the Kingdom, as well as the north are the flattest areas of the country, while central areas are mountainous and are where most of the combat has occurred so far, other than the occupied cities. These new armored and motorized regiments will most likely be supported by the mountaineer infantry, as well as militia forces, which constitute the majority of the SRA.

These regiments have reportedly already reached the eastern districts of the city of Petliya, where they have engaged small infantry regiments of the Visrodin Army.

Finally, the situation in the north of the Kingdom remains tense, as the Knyaz and Military regime are essentially at odds about the legitimacy of their rule and powers, which has started yet another conflict between royalist and military elements of the Kingdom. So far, the Knyaz’s forces have not seized much land other than territories and cities surrounding Sarnitsa. The Knyaz’s army still lacks the necessary soldiers to perform any major military offensive due to the threat the northern SRA guerilla forces present to the capital city.

“Mask the Nation” Surpasses Fundraising Goal

Yayyára, Krauanagaz— The student-led “Mask the Nation” campaign has raised over 4.5 million velliarizas, exceeding its April target. Organizers announced today that the additional funds will be used to purchase critical PPE supplies for Southern Mitallduk refugee camps, expanding the initiative’s reach beyond Krauanagaz. “Every mask delivered is pivotal in stopping the spread,” said coordinator Tessa Yiran. Distribution efforts are expected to begin within the week.

A consortium of Zuhlgani, Emeraldian, and Sedunnic laboratories began human Phase II trials of the leading mRNA vaccine candidate on April 10 in Varekko, Ozákla, Yayyára and Tatallap. Officials say initial safety data is expected by mid to late-May, with efficacy endpoints measured through June.

Daily new infections have declined modestly in Krauanagaz— from an average of 1,200 per day in late March to around 850 per day in the first half of April— suggesting nascent containment in urban centers. Though data for the second half of April has yet to be tabulated. According to the Krauanagazan Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the confirmed death toll now stands at 18,087, up 1,487 since early April. CDC data indicates that mortality remains concentrated in northern refugee camps and remote areas with limited access to healthcare.

A Forked Road: Zuhlgan Expands Control Amid Uprising, Economic Realignment in Mitallduk

Ta’ana, Mitallduk— Zuhlgan’s push into mainland Mitallduk has entered a new and volatile chapter, as both military and economic maneuvers face escalating backlash across occupied territories. While Zuhlgani authorities press forward with resource extraction and commercial integration, local resistance is intensifying— transforming what many once called a “slow annexation” into a combustible standoff with regional implications.

Over the past two weeks, construction crews under Zuhlgani state contractors have broken ground on a high-capacity gas compression station near the eastern Mitallduk village of Naraté, reinforcing earlier speculation that the annexed coastal corridor is being rapidly transformed into a long-term energy export hub. Additional satellite imagery released by the Cordilian Monitoring Coalition confirms the deployment of prefabricated housing units for Zuhlgani workers and the erection of armored checkpoints along critical access roads.

Locals report that several fishing communities in the expanded “Protectorate Development Zone” have now been formally evicted under what Zuhlgani officials are calling, “transitional relocation orders.” Eyewitnesses say evictions have accelerated since the beginning of April, often enforced by masked paramilitaries without prior notice or compensation.

“They give you two hours, then the bulldozers come,” said Arah Méntula, a teacher from the coastal hamlet of Telaruun, now sheltering at a crowded inland schoolhouse. “We’ve lost our homes, our boats, and our food. And they say it’s for ‘regional stability.’”

A bomber aircraft has reportedly crashed near the town of Barilisk, to the northeast of the city of Krum. The plane was most likely heading towards the southern districts of the city to perform a bombing run, similar to what the Air Force already did in the city of Lazurovo, in order to disrupt the republican advance in the city.

The entire crew of the plane were killed in the crash. It is unclear what happened in order for the crash to occur, as the flight recorder was destroyed due to the explosion caused by the bombs as the plane touched the ground forcefully.

Southern Cordilia’s Long Road to Recovery: April Update

Alkantara, Krauanagaz– Two months after the catastrophic 10.1-magnitude quake and partial eruption of Mount Alkantarak, Southern Cordilia is emerging from the immediate crisis phase. Yet reconstruction efforts remain deeply entangled with the ongoing Cordilian Fever epidemic, complicating an already herculean task.

The World Forum Recovery Coalition (WFRC) has injected over $4.2 billion into immediate relief— the largest single mobilization in Cordilian history. While much of these funds have gone directly to transitional shelters, medical supplies, and infrastructural repair, leaked budget memos suggest up to 18% of the WFRC’s earmarked reconstruction grants have been reallocated to “security oversight” and “legal counsel,” line items that critics argue serve to bolster host governments’ leverage over aid corridors.

WFRC officials report that 25 former emergency shelters in Okhoa and Northern Krauanagaz have been refitted as combined fever-treatment wards and aid distribution hubs, up from 8 in early March. Mobile clinics staffed by Krauanagazan and Emeraldian medical teams have reached 312 remote villages in Krauanagaz, Mitallduk, and Okhoa since mid-March, conducting both quake-injury follow-ups and Cordilian Fever screenings.

Krauanagazan CDC reports show daily new Cordilian Fever cases in quake-affected districts have dropped from 1,650 in late February to 300 in April. Yet experts warn that several indicators caution against complacency. Doctors Without Borders (NLL) says field-lab capacity remains constrained, with only 35% of suspected cases in remote camps tested due to reagent shortages.

Okhoa–Krauanagaz Rift Deepens

Varekko, Okhoa– Okhoa says it has suspended its visa-waiver program for Krauanagazan nationals, forcing business and family-visit applicants into protracted security screenings at Keyli’s ports of entry. Analysts say to expect ferry and cargo routes across the Gulf of Good Omen to dramatically slow as they now fall subject to “enhanced security inspections,” with merchant vessels facing delays of up to five days for manifest checks.

Okhoa’s Regional Council unveiled new visa requirements for Krauanagazan nationals to accompany the visa-waiver suspension. Those include mandatory background checks, biometric registration, and a non-refundable application fee of 200 velliarizas per traveler. The Regional Council says these measures apply to all short-term visits, including business and academic exchanges.

In addition, Okhoa announced the commission of two new radar stations along its northern coastline to monitor air and sea traffic in the Gulf. Officials report construction began last week near the port of Ka’atria, with surface patrols launched to counter alleged Krauanagazan intelligence-gathering via small craft. Zuhlgan’s Foreign Office reported last week that it has stepped up maritime intelligence sharing with Okhoa, exchanging real-time vessel-tracking data. Krauanagaz decried this as, “an orchestrated bloc against its sovereign interests.”

Late Sunday evening the Okhoa Regional Council ordered the shutdown of two Krauanagazan honorary consulates in coastal towns— Twrayan and Zharif— by May 7. Okhoan authorities cited “continued hostile intelligence activities” as justification. The Krauanagazan State Department says it is considering recalling its remaining consular staff from Varekko. A move that would leave no official Krauanagazan presence in Okhoa.

The Krauanagazan State Department announced the temporary recall of Ambassador Lyrien Salrok for consultations, pending “clarification of Okhoa’s evidence.” This marks the first high-level diplomatic withdrawal since the Project Phoenix scandal in 2024. Krauanagazan-led protests erupted outside Okhoa’s liaison office in Yayyára. Demonstrators carried placards reading “Diplomacy, Not Deception” and demanded that Okhoa present the classified files purportedly proving espionage.

The escalating tit-for-tat measures signal a deepening crisis in Okhoa-Krauanagaz relations. Whether international mediation can break the impasse remains uncertain; for now, both governments brace for a diplomatic winter that risks chilling not only state-to-state ties but also the more fragile security and economic arrangements underpinning the Gulf of Good Omen.

The Kalaki Foreign Ministry warned Okhoa’s Regional Council on “enhanced security inspections” on mechant vessels crossing the Gulf of Good Omen, citing “Dramatic ripple effects on nations throughout the region, and sharp risk of backlash from affected nations.” There have also been recent calls by San Marsico, and Marica to rerouted north along the Southern shores of Krauanagaz to circumvent 5 day long manifest checks “By that point why don’t you route along the northern tip of Cordillia instead? It’s probably faster that way than getting inspected by the Okhoans,” -Kalakian Prime Minister Mistik Volo during his speech with the Kalakian Parliment.
