@Flaming this topic has been on my mind a bit recently, and I wanted to ask how drastically can people alter a npn/ttn without community consent. For example, when I envisioned the Sentra Exclusion Zone, I pictured it being used for military rps in the blockade sense and science/expeditionary rps in the smaller ships following the distress signal sense, and through that we’d be able to develop it piece by piece and discover together how the disease works. However, its occurred to me that at some point someone may try to run a fleet past the blockade and glass all the planets or something like that, and that would be a major change to its face and, even if we find a way to allow it to keep interacting with the canon, permanently alter it for everyone else.

Tldr, at what point does the community have to agree to a change to a npn’s current state?

I think that the general guideline should be:

If you’re doing something that won’t affect the core of the nation or idea, then it should be fine, and if it’s not drastically going to change anything, it should be fine.

If you’re changing the core of the idea or making a big drastic change it should be ran by everyone to see how we feel.

For instance, say we have Generic Slaver Nation in the TT.

Intercepting one of their slave ships would be perfectly fine.

Intercepting thousands of slave ships at once would need to be ran by the community for sure.

Making a grand invasion and rebuilding the nation from the ground up would need to be brought to a formal vote of some sort since it’s so drastic.

I think a good ground rule is, “can someone else theoretically do this exact thing after me?” If yes, you’re fine. If it would be dubious, run it by everyone.

For context, a “High Botanist” is a diplomatic prince of the Confluence, right under Nixhoeils (the Overlord of Diplomacy).

@Galaxiel @Qwert would you guys allow an orionite humanitarian organization to view the conditions that the newly liberated slaves are being held in?

making my new IQN post and was wondering if y’all would be good with that

A very basic pre-war overview of the

Otmoonan Pentarchy

Founded: 948 BBT
Capital: Prapartuh (planet)
Population: ~3.5 trillion of which 1/10 are slaves.
Species: 2.2 trillion Otmoonans (humanoid), 1 trillion various integrated native species, 0.3 trillion foreign-origin
Slaves: yes, 1/10 of total population, mainly integrated and foreign-origin
FTL method: realspace
Government: Five monarchs take turns governing the nation, shifting every 12 Prapartuh years unless a vote of no confidence takes place in the senate. The monarchs represent the different strata and their priorities.
Foreign policy: isolationist
Economy: pre-scarcity
Location:

Borders at galactic plane. Otmoonan and Treecuu borders overlap outside the galactic plane, and the Penarchy is larger vs the TSE than indicated. Capital is marked near Oleth Station.

Do you want an overview of what the ex-slaves’ habitats are like in Verchessen?

I would, Skyline Shield is more worried about whether they are being crammed like sardines, they trust that the ConEmp and Treccu are providing adequate care

They also are bringing a titan that was converted into a hospital ship, OMDAV Mercy’s Reach

This slave storyline is actually popping off right now

I don’t really feel like this deserves a full on news post, but for the sake of Inflection Point relations and your future posts I’m going to say that TwAs obviously agrees to meet with Treecuu officials (@Qwert) and while it doesn’t entirely back down its stance while the situation around the freed slaves is being discussed, the Twilight Ascendancy is willing to discuss the Confluence’s plans with it to allow the best plan to help the freed slaves to be developed (@Galaxiel).

Yeah, so, Verchessen is a bit of a special dyson sphere in the fact that its under the direct supervision of Nixhoeils whose official epithet is “Father of the Holy Garden”. Well, there’s quite a reason for that name.

Yeah so basically the habitats of Verchessen tend to be very elysian and edenic, being directly under the care of an Overlord (who very much enjoys gardens and landscaping). The habitats are very large (McKendree cylinders 10.000 km in length and 1000 in radius), and the weather inside of them is constantly regulated to provide the optimal temperatures and amount of light for the residents. The liberated live in relatively small cities and arcologies that have been built for the occasion across the habitats: the dwellings within them are fully customizable through automated systems, and all of them have their own nanoforge with language-appropriate interfaces. The habitats are all connected with one another, as well as the individual settlements within each of them: the liberated can visit the other settlements and habitats as well as visit (with the guidance of a tutor) the other habs in Verchessen that are inhabited by Coempireal citizens. Finally, and very importantly, all habitats are permeated in a nanotech and forcefield based safety/medical system that prevents bodily harm and intervenes in the case of accidents happening to prevent injuries.

Many citizens have volunteered to operate the restaurants, entertainment and other such services in the settlements, so there’s bound to be at least one somewhere. :3
