“It’s a pleasure to meet you both in person. Starkiller spoke a lot about you Hex.” Globlon spoke. “We have many things to discuss, so why don’t we head inside?”
Very well we can go discuss this in the council building. I bring them to the main government building. There seems to be 5 main seats and many less grand seats around a table. They sit in one of the less grand seats “You may sit anywhere except for those 5 seats.”
Globlon, Vernan and their aids sit down at the lesser seats.
“I’d assume these are reserved for rhe councillors?” Vernan asked while pointing to the five grand seats. “If so, then your legislative body is much smaller then ours. The Seanate has over a thousand.”
“2137 to be exact, though the number is expected to grow.” One of the aids added.
“Yes this is the legislator. There are 5 councilers. The Arkon, the one with the most power, the minister of defence and the head of research have the 2nd most power, and the prinicpal instructor and head of exploration have the 3rd most power.”
“That’s an interesting system of governance. In the Republic each Senator has equal power. To pass a decision a simple majority is required, however to make the more important decisions, 70% majority is needed.” Globlon commented.
“Aren’t such disscussions the ambassadors job?” Vernan asked jokingly. “On that topic, we should discuss the location of embassies. We already have two spots picked out.” He turns to one of the aides.
“The HRG embassy could be located either in a new wing of the Governing Spire or a neighbourhood on the outskirts of the Capitol. The city, not the planet. Don’t worry about distance, the it is possible to get accross the entire city in minutes.” The aide explained.
“Well we would like to be on the outskirts of the capitol as it seems the closest to things that are important. Sometimes there is something that requires more than the council’s power, but this is very rare and has to be some very serious stuff. In which case the governors get to vote too. In fact it’s so rare the only time it was needed was during the writing of the constitution.”
“If you want to be close to important thing, then the first option will be better. The Spire is where the government is located. Can’t get more important than that.” Another aide spoke. “Though the outskirts will offer a larger facility.”
“Do you have an available location for our embassy?” Vernan asked.
“Yes we do in fact several. Do you want your enbassy directly placed in put capital city or would you rather it be placed in one of our other major cities. Currently there’s only one other embassy so there’s plenty of space. In that case the governing spire it is. While we do like our facilities to be larger, we prioritise our ability to collect important information so we’ll make do with what we can get.”
“I’d prefer it to be placed in the capital. It will be closer to all the important events.” Vernan said. He turns to an aide before asking. “What’s the next topic?”
“Travel.”
“Ah, travel. Do you wish for a visa system to be estabilished or would simple border checks be enough?”
“Hold on i have to look something up.” Hex checks a database “Oh that’s what they are. They may enter without a visa. But we will do background checks on them before we allow them to enter.”
“Very well then. Any details of our agreements can be discussed with the ambassador on a later date.” Globlon said. “Is there anything else you would prefer to discuss now?”
“Well there is something i want to offer. We heard that your economy is not in the best shape. While we can’t say it will be much because well we are a lot smaller than you, we’d like to give you aid. I know it’s a drop in the ocean but the offer still stands.”
“Every crefit counts. The Reconstruction Initiative will benefit from this extra funding. We are grateful for that.” Vernan said. The extra aid would be very useful, especially as after the League War ends, many states will expect more aid to be given out to them.
“If that’s everything, we will be heading home. Vernan will stay here in a shuttle until the embassy is completed. Thank you for your hospitality.” Globlon said, holding out his “hand” for a handshake.
He shake their hand “Good day to you.”
