Today was marked by Stoinia’s steadfast gaze into the westwinds. Minister of Defence, Gen. Codreanu has presented the new government-approved budget of Stoinian naval expansion of roughly $ 131 billion to cement Stoinia’s position as a dominant naval power on the world stage. The expansion of 48 warships was a surprise to the international community and even surpasses last year’s Sallodesian military expansion. Nonetheless, Minister-General Codreanu has elaborated on the expansion plan’s goal to modernise the Stoinian Royal Navy’s water surface combat vessels & manifest its doctrine in addition to strengthen commitment within the Commonwealth of Nations, primarily to protect nations such as Pētea, & to overseas trade partners such as Phanam, Livana & Eria.

Pacifica’s turmoil has calmed over the summer, but tensions in the Mediterranean are expected to rise as the Frost-Rekhivan border shows signs of skirmishes. Nonetheless, the Stoinian Royal Navy is preparing itself to play a more important role in anticipation of future conflicts. Minister-General Codreanu stated: “Stoinia must continue to affirm a voice of reason on the seas. Be it to secure our trade routes with strategic partners around the globe or uphold the vows we made to protect our allies. The South Pacific Ocean and Stoinia have been intertwined like waves & winds ever since the 13th century. We will reiterate our place on the seas to secure prosperity for all.”

The already expansive Stoinian Royal Navy consist of 161 active warships which patrol trade routes and increasingly involve themselves in military conflicts around the globe. The expansion would bring the Royal Navy’s total strength to 209 active warships by November 2025. Although multiple littoral combat ships & frigates are designated to reinforce Defence Fleets to protect Cordilian & Pacifican territories, indeed even in the Ikaranarean exclaves, an additional 4 light aircraft carriers will be built alongside modern missile guided destroyers & frigates to serve as screens. Even 6 submarines have been placed to herald a new generation of submarines adapted to modern requirements. In total, the additional ships will cost $ 76.2 billion and will equate to an annual cost of roughly $ 10 billion and an additional 20,000 personnel.

“The expansion of our light aircraft fleet will ensure that Stoinia will maintain a cost-effective means to ensure aerial superiority over the South Pacific. With our strong presence in the Central Islands, we will be able to operate aeroplanes even further into the ocean. Thus, we will have the means to enlarge the area of vital trans-Pacific trade routes we can safeguard.” explained Minister-General Codreanu when asked about the specific doctrine.

The new ships will be manufactured in Valdés, Carao & Tavira by Navanti, the Stoinian ship building company with a government’s golden share, in collaboration with the Myrian Hilu-Saab United Shipyards & Sallodesian Bulowayo Heavy Shipyards. Although some frigates & littoral combat ships can be expected to be completed by late 2024, the bulk of the Royal Navy’s expansion is expected to take well up to 2025. The reduced costs have been revealed to have been a part of the Sunrise Triad’s agreements to intervene in the Myrian economic predicament. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mircea Ghencea, hopes this influx will rally investors’ trust in the Myrian economy.

Furthermore, 144 carrier variant aeroplanes of the upcoming 6th gen Lockheed Austin SF-44 ‘Skyfury’ fighter jet have been ordered, costing an additional $ 55.52 billion. The new Sallo-Stoino fighter jet aims to ensure aerial superiority on the seas as well. Despite the Minister-Generals call for allies to consider ordering additional ships, he has reiterated that the joint Sallo-Stoino fighter will remain for domestic use only. With this massive military undertaking, the Stoinian Royal Navy asserts its resolute will to protect its interest over the seas through the doctrine of winds & waves.
