Health Ministry Rolls Out Voluntary Rehab Network Following Soft Drug Decriminalisation

Cintralia — The Coalitanian government formally launched its “Pathway to Wellbeing” programme today, establishing state-funded rehabilitation and counselling services in all four administrative regions. The move comes two months after the National Assembly passed the Personal Use Decriminalisation Act, that removed criminal penalties for possession of small quantities of cannabis and other drugs.

The initiative, with an initial budget of 950 million C$, will be integrated into existing municipal health centres rather than standalone facilities.

The ISF (Internal Security Forces) reports indicate a 22% decrease in drug-related arrests, while calls to addiction helplines have increased by over 150%. Critics, however, remain skeptical. “We are trading long-term social health for short-term administrative convenience,” argued Dr. Anya Kolesnik, a popular spokesperson, activist, and doctor “The data on long-term outcomes from such models is still mixed.”

Coalitanian Drone Strikes Target JLM Convoy in Eastern Jakur, Mirad Confirms

Arba, Mirad — The Miradi Ministry of Defence confirmed today that Alcoalitanian unmanned aerial vehicles provided intelligence and strike support that led to the destruction of a Jakuri Liberation Movement (JLM) logistics convoy early Friday. The operation took place in the remote Gadar Valley, a key supply route for the group.

Satellite imagery analysis shared with the Herald shows three vehicles were hit on a mountain track. The JLM’s media arm claimed the vehicles were carrying commercial goods and that the strike killed four civilians. This could not be independently verified. The Alcoalitanian Foreign Ministry, when asked, reiterated its “firm support for Mirad’s sovereignty and territorial integrity” and its commitment to “counter-terrorism cooperation.”

Alcoalitania Backs Miradi Government as Polls Show Gains for Nationalist Zera

Arba, Mirad — With national elections in Mirad scheduled for June, Coalitanian Foreign Minister Soren Kael issued a pointed statement of “full confidence” in the leadership of President Vallen Zeller.

The statement is widely seen as a diplomatic counter to the rising popularity of opposition leader Kovarsk Zera, whose “Miradi Renewal” movement has gained significant traction in polls, particularly in northern regions less affected by the Jakur conflict. Zera campaigns on a platform of “national sovereignty,” promising to review all foreign aid agreements-implicitly targeting Alcoalitania’s extensive economic and military support and to promote Zarkanxiz traditional values.

Developing: Gunfire and Explosions Reported on Mitallduk’s Takara Island

BREAKING— Reports are emerging of intense gunfire and multiple explosions in several settlements on Takara Island, raising immediate fears of a coordinated attack or a new outbreak of violence in the historically volatile archipelago. Residents of Med Kezharr, Old Tarana, and the inland community of Mizhazk began posting urgent messages on local networks shortly after nightfall, describing sustained bursts of automatic fire and at least two large detonations powerful enough to shake homes. According to initial accounts, unidentified armed groups were seen moving toward administrative buildings and communication masts. Local authorities have not yet confirmed the nature of the violence, but one municipal council member in Med Kezharr stated that “this is not random criminality, whoever is doing this came prepared.”

The Mitalldukish Provisional Government has issued a short statement acknowledging “serious security disturbances” on the island and confirming that rapid-response units have been deployed. However, officials did not specify the scale of the operation, the number of attackers, or whether civilians have been harmed. Unverified footage circulating on Pasture appears to show plumes of smoke rising above Old Tarana Port and alarms sounding in the background. In another clip, believed to be recorded near Mizhazk, flash bursts consistent with small-arms fire can be seen along the treeline. The authenticity of the videos has not yet been confirmed.

Takara Island, part of the Tadukallai chain north of mainland Mitallduk, has faced growing instability following the collapse of the Mitallduk Confederacy as organized crime groups, foreign powers, separatist elements, and independence movements compete for influence over smuggling routes and maritime territory. Security analysts have warned for months that the islands’ political vacuum and fragmented militias made it vulnerable to sudden escalation.

There has been no official word from the Mitalldukish Interim President, or the TPA-PV council. Neighboring coastal communities on the mainland have reported low-altitude flyovers of military helicopters but are not currently under threat. Civilian communications from Takara Island remain cut off, fueling speculation that infrastructure may have been intentionally targeted.

Jorden Estes has been elected the new Deputy Speaker, replacing Essie Connor, who steps down with immediate effect and returns to her role as a backbench MP. Mister Deputy Speaker Jorden Estes will chair his first full day of debates on Tuesday. He has also resigned his Party, as is required, to become independent, departing the Alliance Party.

MP for Lick Fork, Essie Connor, has applied to join the Tax Nobody Party. The Leader of the Opposition, Lorraine Drake, will not have a chance to review the former Deputy Speaker’s application until tomorrow.

Prime Minister Erickson has invited former Prime Minister Edward Russell to talks in her residence. It is speculated that the former Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Garcia are acting as advisers. The Prime Minister has dismissed this as speculation.

Traci Matthews has stepped down as Deputy Prime Minister following a controversy after she crossed the floor and immediately got appointed to Cabinet. The Prime Minister is extremely annoyed with the critics who forced the former Deputy Prime Minister out of her position but declined to comment on the departure or a timeline for replacing her, if one exists. Ms. Matthews will remain in the Cabinet as Minister of Economy and Planning.

Following backlash from mariners, Prime Minister Erickson has declared pollution of all water, including rivers, seas and streams, a national emergency, and has appointed an emergency council to begin discussing the quick tackling of this issue. The Prime Minister said, ‘We have a responsibility, all of us, to choose empathy.’ Critics are applauding the Prime Minister for this approach this evening but some still are not impressed and think this is still a wasted opportunity.

Foreign Incursion Fears Mount as Takara Island Remains Cut Off; Evidence Points Toward Zuhlgani Operation

Med Karazh, Mitallduk— Over twenty-four hours after the first reports of gunfire and explosions rippled across Takara Island, the situation remains tense, opaque, and increasingly alarming. What began as scattered accounts of armed groups moving toward government sites has now evolved into a full-scale security crisis, with growing evidence that a foreign military force is attempting to assert control over the strategically crucial island.

All civilian communication links with Takara remain nonfunctional. Network engineers working with the Mitalldukish Provisional Government (MPG) say both the primary undersea cable and the microwave towers serving the Tadukallai chain were disabled within minutes of the first explosions. Officials now believe the simultaneous outages were the result of deliberate sabotage rather than collateral damage. A senior MPG communications official, speaking under condition of anonymity, said the attack on infrastructure was “too synchronized to be the work of local militias” and that “the level of coordination required to disable both primary and backup relay systems strongly suggests a professional military operation.”

Emeraldian Forces in Krauanagaz and Forces currently conducting Operation: Southern Dawn, have been placed on high alert following reports from Takara Island. Combat Air Patrols have been doubled over Southern Mitallduk and Recon Flights into Northern Mitallduk have been reinforced with Fighter Craft. The 4th Fleet has been deployed into the Gulf of Good Omen and the Coast of Mitallduk with orders to “Turn Around or Intercept any form of Invasion Fleet by Zhulgan” with an ROE of “Fire Back only if Fired Upon”. According to the Emeraldian Ministry of Defence, this effort is to show “that Emerald will not back down against Zhulgani “Might” like a scared child.” The King even posted online: “We’ve taken down countless Empires before, either directly or indirectly, Zhulgani certainly won’t be the last Empire to try and take on the Denvari and lose, just like the Australs, Frankists, Karnetvorians, Denvari Empire, and the Taizong, all have tried, and all have failed. You Zhulgani Barbarians have thus far never taken on any enemies of your size, no, you prefer to bully weaker states into submission. Emerald will not tolerate this, No Civilised State worth the title should tolerate this. I tell you this as the King of Emerald, your Empire will one day crumble under the weight of your backwards ways.”

Currently, its been made clear by the MoD that Emerald will not tolerate any further Zhulgani incursion into Mitallduk. A spokesperson of the Starhawk Pact confirmed that the alliance agrees with Emerald. When asked what Emerald would do if Zhulgani has indeed made another incursion into Mitallduk via Takara Island, the Ministry of Defence stated that Zhulgani Forces in Mitallduk would be treated as Hostile Forces against Mitalldukish Reconstruction, and thus would be treated the same as the current Warlords, Rebels, and Terrorists of Mitallduk. To put it simply, Zhulgani Forces in Mitallduk would be treated as Warlords or Terrorists and thus would not recognized as a legitimate force protected by international law and Emeraldian ROE. This would open up Zhulgani Forces and Occupied Areas to Emeraldian Air Strikes and Naval Bombardment, and Zhulgani Ground Forces would be fired upon should they approach Emeraldian Forces. With Emerald and the rest of the Starhawk Pact not recognizing Zhulgan as a Sovereign State due to multiple violations of Universal Human Rights, it’s likely that tensions in Southern Cordilia will only continue to escalate, likely into open conflict.

Regional Leaders React With Alarm to Emerald’s Hardline Stance Toward Zuhlgan as Tensions Rise After Royal Provocation and Troops Move

Yayyára, Krauanagaz— Reactions poured in across Southern Cordilia today after Emerald placed its forces on high alert and publicly threatened to treat any Zuhlgani military personnel in Mitallduk as illegitimate combatants. Emerald’s Ministry of Defence said fighter and recon patrols had been bolstered over northern Mitallduk, the 4th Fleet was steaming into the Gulf of Good Omen with orders to intercept suspected Zuhlgani vessels, and the King’s combative public post sharply ratcheted a government warning into near-diplomatic provocation. Emerald’s statement framed the posturing as a defensive measure to “protect reconstruction and humanitarian efforts” on Takara Island and elsewhere in Mitallduk, but it went further. “We will not back down,” the ministry said as it escalated rhetoric, by declaring Zuhlgani forces operating in Mitallduk would be treated as warlords or terrorists— effectively denying them sovereign protections and opening the door to strikes if they were judged hostile. King Joshua VII’s online message called Zuhlgani leaders “barbarians” and warned of imperial decline for those who “bully weaker states.”

FPA Source: Krautali Nationalist Group Involved in Mitayyal River National Park Massacre

E’dan Ektahn, Krauanagaz — Nearly three weeks after the horrifying discovery of seventeen brutally murdered Mitalldukish individuals in Mitayyal River National Park, federal investigators say they are increasingly confident the mass killing was carried out by an organized extremist network operating inside Krautallaz Province. Officials stress that the investigation remains active and rapidly evolving, but new evidence points toward a coordinated hate-motivated attack that was planned well in advance.

Sources close to the investigation say forensic teams recovered additional markings in the forest surrounding the killing site— far more extensive than was initially reported. These include carved sigils, burned cloth fragments, and a pattern of stones arranged in a shape that analysts described as “consistent with known iconography used by several Krautali-nationalist cells active in the region during the late Civil War period.”

Senior Special Agent Weyoun Torrea said in a briefing last week that the configuration of the bodies, previously described only as “symbolic,” is now being treated as intentional messaging by the perpetrators. “This was an act designed to terrorize a specific community,” Torrea stated. “The staging reflects a level of precision and premeditation that strongly indicates organizational backing.” Officials have declined to publicly name any group, but two law enforcement sources said investigators are giving “particular scrutiny” to a resurgent ultra-nationalist faction believed to have splintered from a banned organization in the early 2000s.

Miradi Capital Sees First Major Anti-War Protest as Conscription Notices Increase

Arba, Mirad - An estimated 350,000 people marched through central, north, and east Arba on Monday in the largest anti-war demonstration seen in the Miradi capital since the Jakur conflict began. The protest, organized by a coalition of university students, and families from affected regions called for immediate peace talks and an end to the “endless mobilization.”

The protest’s size signals a shift in public sentiment in areas of Mirad previously insulated from the fighting. It coincided with a new wave of military conscription notices being delivered in northern provinces, traditional recruiting grounds for the federal army.

“Our sons are not fodder for a war we didn’t start and cannot win,” said protester Anya Vosk, 48, whose brother was recently called up. “The government in Arba and its patrons in Cintralia talk of sovereignty, but they are consuming our youth for a political project.”

President Vallen Zeller’s administration has dismissed the protesters as a “vocal minority” misled by JLM propaganda.“Fatigue is setting in. The promise of a quick victory has evaporated, and people are starting to question the cost.”, said a representative at Bailtem Herald.

The protest concluded peacefully, though observers noted a heavy presence of both regular police and units of the State Security Directorate.

A Turning Point for Coalitanian Interventionism

Cintralia - In a nationally televised address, President Lucia Alvarez announced her government would seek to broker a peace settlement in Mirad and is “actively reviewing” all military aid to the allied nation, a move that could mark a fundamental shift in Alcoalitanian foreign policy.

“The human cost has grown too high, and the path to a stable peace requires new approaches,” President Alvarez said from the Hall of Ministers. “We will use every diplomatic channel to bring the Miradi government and the representatives of Jakur to the table. To that end, all current military assistance is under formal review.”

The statement, which included no specific timeline, is the clearest signal yet that Alcoalitania’s political will for the prolonged conflict is waning. It triggered immediate and volatile reactions. While initial public opinion polls suggested broad popular support for de-escalation, opposition leaders and nationalist figures condemned it as a capitulation. “This is not diplomacy; it is betrayal,” said Marcus Thorne, leader of the National Integrity Party. “It abandons an ally and rewards terrorism.”

The announcement has also reignited the intense domestic debate over conscription. Alvarez did not mention the mandatory service law, but senior coalition lawmakers, speaking anonymously to the Gazette, confirmed that a pledge to end the draft is now a central demand from key political allies in exchange for supporting the foreign policy shift.

Analysts note that Alcoalitania maintained a largely isolationist stance for most of the 20th century. “This isn’t just about Mirad,” said political historian Dr. Elara Voss. “This is a debate about Alcoalitania’s identity on the global stage. The post-Conscription Era foreign policy consensus is being tested, possibly to its breaking point.”

Draft Board Scandal Reveals Exemptions for Children of Political, Media Elite

Arba, Mirad - A routine administrative audit of the National Conscription Service has uncovered what officials are calling a “procedural anomaly”: at least 47 conscription notices issued this autumn to eligible males in the Arba metropolitan district were formally voided without standard medical or academic justification.

According to a preliminary report from the Office of the Comptroller, obtained by the Herald , the voided notices share a common characteristic. The recipients, all aged 18-20, are the sons of mid-to-senior level officials within the ruling Democratic Solidarity Party (DSP), several prominent pro-government media personalities, and two senior officers in the State Security Directorate. The notices were flagged and canceled at the district processing level by a single, mid-level administrator who has since taken a sudden leave of absence.

The Conscription Service issued a statement confirming an “ongoing internal review of district-level protocols” but denied any systemic failure or wrongdoing.

The revelation, though involving a tiny fraction of the tens of thousands called up this year, has ignited fierce debate on social media. The hashtag #NotOurSons is trending, with many users contrasting the exemptions with images of conscripts from rural and working-class backgrounds.

“It confirms what we all whisper,” said a university student in Arba, who asked not to be named for fear of reprisal. “The war is for the poor, the rural, the nameless. The connected in the capital have a different set of rules.”

Opposition leader Kovarsk Zera seized on the report immediately. “This is the rot at the heart of the capitalist system we fight against,” he stated in a live broadcast. “One rule for the people, another for the clique in Arba who dine with foreign ambassadors. A true Miradi renewal would see every son, from every family, share the burden equally, or end the burden for all.”

The scandal presents a acute public relations challenge for President Zeller’s government, which has framed the war effort as a unifying national sacrifice. It also risks undermining morale within the armed forces, where rumors of inequity in conscription have long circulated. The DSP has not yet commented beyond the Conscription Service’s statement.

The Syldaean Coastal Guard has indiscriminately sunk several speed boats which were illegally sailing through Syldaean territorial seas. The boats are thought to be part of drug trafficking organizations, however, due to the way the Coastal Guard has been handling the situation, this cannot be confirmed, even if it’s likely.

Chancellor Daniel Schultze has reiterated that the Syldaean government will keep up a strong fight against all sorts of drugs, in order to protect the Syldaean population from their effects. Despite this, deaths from drug overdoses in Syldain have continued to increase, with the deaths being mainly from tourists.

Some sources within the Syldaean police force report the production of drugs, such as fentanyl, within the Republic in clandestine lab. However, the scale of this production is not known, and many important figures from the police claim a lack of necessary funding to deal with this in an effective way, mainly due to the generalized budget cuts from recent government policies.

Krautallaz Public Safety Director Sparks Firestorm With Discriminatory Remarks

Mitayyal, Krauanagaz— Krautallaz’s Director of Public Safety, Chris Thorne, is yet again facing mounting calls for his resignation after an interview on Friday in which he made highly discriminatory and racially charged remarks during a nightly news show. The remarks describe the Mitalldukish and Zuhlg ethnicities as “inherently prone to social deviance” and suggest that heightened surveillance, preemptive detentions, and selective enforcement were “necessary tools” to maintain public order. In one segment, Thorne appears to argue that unrest in Krautallaz’s mixed districts is “strictly cultural, not situational,” critics say the language echoes discredited racial theories and collective punishment doctrines from the Free Cordilian Confederacy’s apartheid system.

Despite a court order issued on October 24 directing the Thorne to report to federal custody on one count of contempt of court, authorities now confirm that he has failed to surrender as of December 13. Court records indicate the order stemmed from repeated refusals to comply with parliamentary subpoenas and disclosure requirements tied to the ongoing investigation into discriminatory conduct within the Krautallaz public safety apparatus. The prolonged noncompliance has sharply escalated the stakes, with legal scholars describing the failure to report as a direct challenge to judicial authority rather than a procedural lapse. Federal officials have declined to clarify whether an arrest warrant has been formally executed, although multiple sources within the Department of Justice confirm that enforcement mechanisms are now under active review. The apparent slow pace of federal law enforcement has fueled public concern over what appears to be unequal application of the law when in regards to government officials, and deepened scrutiny of Krautallaz’s institutional accountability.

Within hours of Thorne’s interview, condemnation poured in from across the political spectrum. The Krauanagazan Department of Justice issued a statement calling the remarks “deeply disturbing and incompatible with the principles of equal protection under the law… Public safety cannot be built on prejudice,” the statement read. “Any official who promotes discriminatory enforcement undermines both security and legitimacy.” Opposition lawmakers in Krautallaz’s provincial government seized on the controversy as evidence of systemic rot. Provincial Magistrate Arkan Belvezh believes Thorne’s remarks “confirm what many residents have feared— that prejudice is shaping policy behind closed doors.” Even figures within the Democratic Federation (ML), typically supportive of strong security measures, distanced themselves, emphasizing that “order must be enforced without bias or collective blame.”

Thorne’s office put out a statement early this morning, saying Thorne’s remarks were “taken out of context” and insisting he was speaking “in analytical terms, not ideological ones.” He has not issued an apology, or responded to requests for comment. The controversy comes at a particularly sensitive moment for Krautallaz, where trust between provincial security forces and the public remains fragile decades after the civil war and amid renewed concerns about internal unrest. Analysts warn that the fallout could further destabilize relations in districts already wary of central authority.

As protests gather momentum and the federal inquiry proceeds, pressure is intensifying on the provincial government to act. Whether Director Thorne survives the political fallout may depend less on legal technicalities and more on whether Governor Dante Nimi believes public trust can be restored with him still in office.

Okhoa, Okhoa— In a dramatic realignment just hours before early voting begins, First Minister candidates Së Baltág and Áma Drovai announced this afternoon the immediate suspension of their campaigns, throwing their full endorsement behind New Okhoa candidate Mitfa Píngi. The joint announcement came during a tightly managed press conference in the capital, underscoring the growing consolidation of anti-establishment and reformist forces ahead of Monday’s opening of early voting.

Mitfa, a former member of the now-disbanded Regional Council, has long positioned herself as a critic of Zuhlgani political and corporate influence in Okhoa. During her tenure on the council, she emerged as a leading voice for environmental protections, stricter corporate accountability, and regulatory independence— stances that often put her at odds with council leadership widely perceived as aligned with Zuhlgani interests. Së B. and Áma both cited Mitfa’s “record of confrontation, not accommodation” as the decisive factor behind their endorsements.

Mitfa’s national profile was forged in 2019, following the killing of environmental activist Eri Kazakor and his family by operatives linked to Amlod Industries. At the time, Mitfa served as president of Okhoa Tomorrow, the organization Kazakor helped to build. Her relentless advocacy for the family transformed the case into a landmark human rights and corporate accountability battle. Backed by Okhoa Tomorrow and later Cordilian Human Rights Watch, the years-long legal effort culminated earlier this year in a ruling by the supreme judicial body of the Okhoa Protectorate, which found senior Amlod executives guilty of orchestrating or enabling what the court described as “a calculated act of corporate terrorism.”

Just hours earlier, Varekko Sumara and Mezza Kiffë also suspended their campaigns in separate announcements, endorsing United Okhoa candidate Rhiánas Veylan. Their decisions further narrow the field and intensify what is increasingly shaping into a two-pole contest between competing visions of reform, state responsibility, and Okhoa’s post-Protectorate future.

With early voting set to begin Monday at noon, election officials confirmed that ballots will reflect the withdrawals. Analysts say the sudden consolidation could significantly alter turnout dynamics and coalition calculations, marking a volatile closing weekend in Okhoa’s newborn electoral history.

CHRW Says Syldain Coastal Guard May Have Engaged In ‘Extrajudicial Killings’; Calls For Independent Investigation

Grovne, Sedunn— Cordilian Human Rights Watch (CHRW) has issued a sharply worded statement denouncing recent actions by the Syldaean Coastal Guard, accusing authorities of engaging in possible extrajudicial killings following the sinking of multiple speed boats in Syldaean territorial waters.

According to CHRW, the deliberate destruction of vessels without confirmed identification of occupants or evidence of an imminent threat constitutes a “grave violation of international maritime law and basic human rights norms.” The organization stressed that while the boats are alleged to have links to drug trafficking networks, no independent verification has been provided, and no effort to interdict, detain, or investigate those onboard appears to have been made prior to the use of lethal force. “States do not have the authority to act as judge, jury, and executioner at sea,” CHRW said in its statement. “Even in counter-narcotics operations, lethal force must be a last resort. What we are witnessing instead is punishment without due process.”

The watchdog called on the Syldaean government to immediately disclose rules of engagement governing the Coastal Guard, release any available sensor or communications data related to the sinkings, and allow an independent international inquiry into the incidents. CHRW also urged Syldain to suspend aggressive maritime interdictions until clear legal safeguards are in place.

The condemnation comes amid growing scrutiny of Syldain’s hardline anti-drug posture under Chancellor Daniel Schultze, particularly as overdose deaths continue to rise. CHRW noted the apparent contradiction between increasingly militarized maritime enforcement and reported underfunding of domestic drug prevention, treatment programs, and police efforts to dismantle alleged hidden drug labs within the Republic.

Syldaean officials have not yet responded directly to CHRW’s allegations. The Coastal Guard maintains that its operations are aimed at protecting public safety and disrupting transnational criminal networks, but legal experts warn that continued use of lethal force without transparent accountability could expose Syldain to international legal action and sanctions.

Given the recent statements by the CHRW against the actions of the Syldaean Coastal Guard, leader of the Opposition Luka Pankau has threatened to start a motion of no confidence in the Syldaean Landtag against the current conservative coalition, as well as an impeachment of the recently elected President.

Luka Pankau has reiterated the arguments of the CHRW in a recent debate in the Landtag, claiming that a nation who resorts to violence first, without even considering other alternatives, is a nation of brutes; and Syldain is not a nation of brutes. Stating that, despite drug traffickers being some of the worst people in Pacifica, the Syldaean Coastal Guard must not step down to their level.

Many members of the conservative coalition reiterated the importance of stopping the flow of drugs into Syldain in any shape or form. However, some have started to question the policies of the largest party of the coalition, which takes most of the decisions. Mainly questioning the lack of funding into law enforcement and the fact that the Coast Guard was allowed to perform extrajudicial killings, when the Death Penalty itself is only reserved to extreme cases in Syldaean law, after a long and arduous judicial process.

With some cracks starting to form in the ruling conservative coalition, Chancellor Daniel Schultze has admitted that the Coast Guard has committed an error, claiming that their actions were not ordered from above, and that any further sinking of ships without due investigation will mean consequences for members of the Coast Guard.
