Eastern Land News:
The Story of the Stukk Refugee:
With the start of yet another conflict between the countries of Firest and Aldestukk, a high number of Stukk refugees have already fled their respective country due to the initial Firestian invasion of Stukk territory. Despite Firest proclaiming itself as “true to Vrignyan culture and defending the Vrignyan nation”, Vrigny sees no quarrel with taking in as many Stukk and Firestian refugees as possible, as long as they respect Vrigny’s secular society.
It is estimated that up to 10k Stukk refugees have already made it to Vrigny. While finding decent housing is hard for these refugees, it seems that finding employment within Vrigny is a different story. Different sectors of Vrigny’s industry have accepted this new source of workers with open arms; however, it is unclear if the intention of these enterprises is one of goodwill, or if this just another example of capitalists choosing the cheaper workforce.
Most surprisingly, it seems that the industrial sector that has hired the highest number of Stukk refugees so far is the resurrecting military-industrial complex. We have our concerns for these Stukk nationals, not only due to the possibility of being employed under unregulated and possibly illegal contracts, but also due to the simple fact that these private Vrignyan military manufacturers have absolutely no problem, and are in fact, selling most of their military equipment to Firest; the country that is causing all these Stukk nationals their current misery.
We have interviewed several Stukk refugees who work at differen Vrignyan military equipment-producing factories, and some of their responses have been the following: “Over in Aldestukk we would never get paid such a generous salary”, “We live under difficult times, our lives have always been difficult” and “Perhaps we should prepare to never go back to Aldestukk, or whatever it may be, again”. Despite these salaries pretty much being the minimum legally allowed amount (as far as we’ve seen), we do see the attitudes of these Stukk refugees with disdain; this individualist and selfish point of view they exhibit only causes more suffering to the Stukk population in Aldestukk.
Here at Eastern Land News, we have always defended Pacifican Internationalism; no nation is superior to other, and nations shouldn’t matter at all: we are all human, and human lives are what matter. However, perhaps this should show that, especially in dire situations, nations should stick together and work for their victory, not their own demise.
