Developing— The Krauanagaz Geological Survey (KGS) has reported increased seismic swarms and subterranean tremors beneath the Alkantarak volcanic zone, prompting the agency to issue a Volcano Advisory as of 11:54 local time. This new alert accompanies an Earthquake Watch issued late last night for much of southern Krauanagaz that remains in effect.

The activity, centered beneath the southeastern flank of Mount Alkantarak, has already led to the evacuation of at least seven rural communities in the broader disaster impact zone. These areas had only recently begun limited reconstruction efforts following the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami earlier this year.

According to KGS Director Álim Kesun, “We are observing magma movement and stress fractures consistent with a potential eruptive sequence. While no surface breach has occurred yet, we are treating this as a high-risk situation.” The KGS says the alert level for Mt. Alkantarak has been elevated to Yellow, meaning officials have detected increased seismic activity in indicator areas that indicates a higher likelihood of an eruption or earthquake.

Emergency shelters are being reactivated in threatened areas, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency has been placed on standby. The World Forum Humanitarian Office has also issued a regional emergency advisory, warning of potential infrastructure disruptions in the event of a new eruption or major aftershock.
