South Cordilia— The Krauanagazan Geological Survey (KGS) has issued a ‘Volcano Advisory’ for much of southern Krauanagaz and western Zuhlgan following reports of “minor unrest” at Mt. Alkantarak, one of the most significant peaks in the Luzayyagaz Volcanic Arc. The advisory comes after the Luzayyagaz Volcanic Observatory detected increased seismic activity near the volcano, prompting heightened concerns over potential geological hazards.

Liza Korr, a senior seismologist at the Luzayyagaz Volcanic Observatory, confirmed that while the risks of eruption remain uncertain, the situation warrants close observation. “We are seeing persistent anomalous activity beneath the caldera, including tremors and minor gas emissions,” said Korr. “Though an eruption appears unlikely at this time, the region’s geological volatility demands caution.”

Earlier today, the Cordilian Institute of Geosciences elevated Mt. Alkantarak’s threat level from ‘Green’ to ‘Yellow.’ This classification indicates ongoing seismic disturbances that are above background levels but not yet indicative of an imminent eruption. The Institute emphasized that monitoring efforts are being intensified to track any further changes.

The KGS advisory follows a bleat posted to Pasture™ on Friday, where the agency warned of a, “significant uptick,” in seismic activity along the Western Continental Trench over the past two weeks. This subduction zone, where the West Continental Plate plunges beneath the Brutland Plate, has historically been a hotspot for earthquakes and volcanic events.

Local authorities in southern Krauanagaz have been advised to review emergency preparedness protocols, though no evacuations have been ordered. The Luzayyagaz region, known for its rugged terrain and fertile valleys, is home to numerous communities that could be affected by ashfall or lahars should volcanic activity intensify.

Residents are urged to remain informed through official channels and heed any future advisories. Korr stressed the importance of public vigilance while reiterating that the current advisory is precautionary. “We are prepared, and we encourage the community to stay calm while following updates from the Observatory and Geological Survey.”
