This morning in Kaleidi’s rally at a plaza near the University of Noveopolis, AKI presidential candidate Governor Kaleidi claimed that ”the conscription period is too long for such a peaceful nation” and “it is unreasonable to keep young men for an entire year in the military. Six months are enough to ensure national security”. He then promised to reduce the requirement of serving in the military by 50% to just six months. He also promised to increase national spending on the development of military technology that mainly runs on artificial intelligence.
In response, the ruling party’s candidate Prime Minister Pelidi announced that he will increase the salary of conscripted men by 35%, and also implement new technology to improve the quality of life in the military. Also promising more holidays for the conscripted, he claimed that “although New Altnavia is a very peaceful nation, it is important to maintain a large military to ensure the peace lasts for many generations”.
This subject is predicted to be a key point in the upcoming debate between the two candidates on this Saturday.
