Conflicts in Mirad
This thread is to provide information for the ongoing Jakuri insurgency in Mirad, a nation in western-central Bailtem.
Introduction: What is Jakur and why is it fighting for its independence?
Jakur is one of the administrative regions of Mirad, as it has been for around 3 centuries. However, after the disestablishment and the collapse of the Alcoalitanian Empire, Jakur and Mirad declared independence as different independent breakaway states. This lasted for around a hundred years until the Miradis declared war on Jakur over border disputes. This war would last over 7 years and cost the lives of over 30,000 Jakuri people, mostly civilians.
This conflict lead to an extremely high amount of resentment between the two groups, and lead to the establishment of the terrorist organization the Jakuri Liberation Movement that advocates for Jakuri independence and has performed several attacks on Miradi military and civilian infrastructure like military bases, civilian homes, public transport, and airports. The attacks strengthened even further after the at-the-time authoritarian Miradi regime started persecuting Jakuri civilians using little to no proof whatsoever for most arrests.
For most of its lifespan, the JLM was not an organized military force, but more of a group of untrained civilian terrorists. This changed however, with the coup of the local administrative government of Jakur at around 2002, which was lead by highly anti-Jakurist politicians at the time. This gave the JLM total control of their region, and the Jakuri war of independence started. The war is still ongoing as of today.

Postic’s Oppositon
As the government continues to fail to solve the Jakuri conflict, many individuals, supported by an overwhelming majority of the public, have came out, proposed ideas, and openly gone against the entire political system.
A central figure in this debate is Jorge Positc, a member of parliament. Known for his fiery rhetoric and populist appeal, Positc has become one of the most vocal opponents of Coalitanian involvement in Miradi affairs. In a televised speech before the National Assembly, he accused Coalitania of “pulling the strings behind every major decision our government makes” and warned that “the Miradi nation is in danger of losing not only its autonomy but its identity.” His words struck a chord with citizens frustrated by years of conflict, austerity, and foreign oversight, sparking renewed public discussion about the true cost of Coalitania’s support. Positc’s movement, often described as the “anti-Coalitania bloc”. They argue that Mirad’s ongoing reliance on Coalitanian funding has created a political system where loyalty to Alcoalitania outweighs loyalty to the Miradi people. According to Positc and his allies, Coalitania’s role in the Ministry of Defense and the Treasury represents “soft occupation,” where influence is exerted through contracts, advisers, and loans instead of direct control.
Quite controversially, Postic has proposed for a takeover of the current government and establishment of an isolationist ultranationalist state. On various media sources, he has expressed distain and hatred for the Jakuri people, however, he denies being a racist.
