Closing Thoughts: HumanSanity’s May 2026 Caretaker Government
Voting in the election for Prime Minister will close in a few hours and once the Election Commissioner certifies the result, my watch will end. I have enjoyed my brief reprisal as Prime Minister, frankly much more than I initially expected. My thanks to the region and especially to the Cabinet for continuing their work diligently and professionally under unusual circumstances.
In this brief period, I endeavored for us to continue progress on our existing projects and set in place strong frameworks for the next Prime Minister to run with on certain processes that were undefined prior to that point. To this end, we accomplished the following:
- An internal Cabinet procedure for the processing of Ministry staff applications was documented and started to be implemented. This included that most Ministries wrote a stock “welcome to the Ministry” message for new staff members to get oriented.
- We did not finalize the removal of the old Get Involved links and converting them to the new ones—hopefully the next Prime Minister is able to accomplish this.
- The Ministry of Integration posted guides for new recruiters and has had a strong month of recruiting. Behind the scenes, work has begun on an RMB welcoming bot.
- Ministry of Culture has continued its work as expected. Culture is collaborating with Integration on the release of some new Awards in June and is working on the next TSSG release.
- The Director of Technology started an internal Cabinet discussion about next projects and prioritization of them—hopefully this will set good groundwork for next steps.
- I have personally set the model I want to see from the Prime Minister in terms of involvement on the RMB, striving to post at least daily if not a few times a day to ensure I am visible and helping with day to day welcoming and keeping the RMB an inviting and fun place.
- We successfully avoided any foreign affairs meltdowns.
I realize that the chaos of a contentious recall, followed by a Delegate resignation and special election, followed by a Prime Minister election, followed by a PM resignation and special election creates the perception of chaos and disorganization in the region. There is certainly some truth to that.
However, I also think this tumultuous period has left us stronger than we were before. Each time we have faced a challenge, our regional institutions were capable of rising to meet it, and we have emerged stronger on the other side of it. All throughout these changes, we’ve had new contributors stepping up, resilient processes and institutions being defined and utilized, our RMB is a lot more pleasant of a place to spend some time, and in general a lot of our people are excited about TSP and what they can do to make it a better place. That energy and dedication, and broader region-wide progress we’ve made, is the most important thing and has far greater potential than any individual government official or institution.
Faithfully yours,
HumanSanity
