November 2025 Resolution to Vacate the Chair and Elect a New Chair
A resolution to vacate the Chair of the Assembly held by Nwahs and to elect KrisKringle as the new Chair
WHEREAS, Welly was duly elected to serve as Chair of the Assembly on June 4, 2025, and subsequently re-elected by the Assembly on September 30, 2025, to serve an additional term, set to conclude on January 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, on October 29, 2025, Welly announced their intention to resign as Chair of the Assembly following their nomination by the Prime Minister to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs; and
WHEREAS, on the same day, Welly appointed Nwahs to serve as Deputy Chair for the purpose of facilitating the transition of the Chair; and
WHEREAS, on November 2, 2025, Welly formally resigned as Chair of the Assembly, thereby causing Nwahs to assume the Chair in accordance with the provisions of the Legislative Procedure Act; and
WHEREAS, Nwahs has expressed that they wish to serve as Chair only on a temporary basis and has extended an invitation to the Assembly to vacate the Chair and elect a successor; and
WHEREAS, the Assembly expresses its sincere gratitude to Welly and Nwahs for their dedicated service as Chairs; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to 2(3) of the Legislative Procedure Act, the Assembly is empowered to vacate the Chair by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Chair of the Assembly shall be elected by resolution in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Legislative Procedure Act; and
WHEREAS, KrisKringle has faithfully and selflessly served the Coalition for an extensive period, having held esteemed positions including the 25th Delegate, the 26th Prime Minister, and as Chief Justice for a distinguished tenure of eight years; and
WHEREAS, as a respected and experienced jurist and member of the region, KrisKringle has a deep understanding of South Pacifican law and Assembly procedure, making them well-suited to assume the role of Chair; and
WHEREAS, KrisKringle has presented an agenda aimed at running the Assembly efficiently, fostering civil discussion, and working collaboratively with the executive to further establish the Assembly as the natural venue for political debate; and
WHEREAS, the Assembly expresses its concurrence with and fully supports the agenda presented by KrisKringle.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY:
That the Chair of the Assembly held by @lordnwahs is hereby vacated, and @KrisKringle is hereby elected to serve as Chair of the Assembly until 2026-02-01T17:00:00Z.
