New canon rules and various updates

Here’s an update of the rules according to what has been discussed (new text green). Please vote.

Map

  1. The map shall be updated according to these results: The name A1-0, a possible naming convention and its implications - #99 by Qwert
  2. An activity check shall be carried out
  3. Merging or splitting plots shall not be allowed except for when a player does so within their own plot and when no other nation grows significantly as a result. Minor border changes will still be possible.
  4. Map claims shall provide a general outline of intended lore and stats, see Moderation panel below
  5. A new claim is added on the map once the moderation panel has approved the nation

Stats

  1. Plot sizes (cross-section area and volume) will be calculated and listed. The amount of stars and planets will be listed as well (based on stellar densities etc as previously discussed)
  2. One non-player nation shall be created which will serve as a reference for a medium-high ranked nation
  3. No fixed caps. Consent rules apply; e.g. if a player has their nation attack another player’s nation with 1000 times more ships, the player with the nation under attack is free to assume that those 1000 ships will be of a inferior quality for balancing purposes

Moderation panel

  1. A moderation panel shall be created that will consist of about three volunteers that shall help newcomers by checking the map claim and help guide them to align with the canon. They shall also be consulted when retconning or updating one’s nation
  2. The panel shall be approved by the community

Non-player nations

  1. We keep the large non-player nations where they are, but we rename them and make a new basic lore for them. At least one of them shall serve as a stat reference nation as mentioned above
  2. The small NPNs (aka the Tiyanki ones) are removed and we let the plot be a region that is difficult to traverse and largely unexplored, making it possible to add Tiyanki-style nations in the future should we want.
  3. Any non-player nation and their lore are communal property, no single player shall be able to retcon or remove them

Date system
1. BBT/ABT shall remain as the date system. We will decide later what BT means.
2. The players will have until October 2024 to establish their lore before 0 ABT officially starts
3. One event officially resumes the canon. A NPN announces that it has achieved navigating into the “TT”. They are willing to share the know-how with nations that agree to signing a treaty similar to the Babylon ones, thereby hoping to secure a fair use of the “TT” and hopefully peaceful relations. (This would be the main reference NPN that would be on the more benevolent side, yet powerful.)

Of course, the general community rules still apply: Guide: Getting started in roleplay - TSP Encyclopedia.
