Outline of History:
Roughly twelve-thousand years ago, the long-lived Drakari species would unify underneath the banner of the storied and well-respected House of Io, a dynasty claiming descent from the first king of the ancient Alavarri tribe. From there, their race would rapidly expand across their home system and, with the advent of the Warp Space engine, across the vast expanse of the void around them.
Over the course of countless centuries, the Drakari would colonize untold hundreds of worlds and would bring under their protection a number of smaller spacefaring civilizations. Even pre-spaceflight civilizations would be brought under their watchful gaze, blissfully unaware of their guardians in the stars, who stand vigilant against pirates, slavers, and untold horrors that lurk in the darkness.
The Imperium functions in an unusual combination of a semi-constitutional monarchy and a unicameral parliamentary democracy, with senators representing a number of worlds forming coalitions and alliances that have stood the test of time for many lifetimes.
