Dear Excellencies, Members and Observers of the World Forum,
This last year has been very eventful. Different crises, wars and escalations plagued us, but peace accords, stabilisations and independencies delighted us. The World Forum is standing as a beacon of hope, shining upon the world stage. We have again shown that this Assembly is using its power to create a safer world. The reform of the IACO and the establishment of the PESCO to name just a few. However, we must acknowledge the reality that this forum has a significant speed problem. If we were to be scanned by a radar, they would give us sorry looks for not being able to go faster. Many address it to the leadership, some to the bureaucracy others to the members and observers. But as always, the truth is rarely simple and never pure. A combination of different factors contributes to the fact, that the World Forum is a giant tanker in a world in which climate change is real. It is precisely for this reason, that we have a historic task in front us: making it a catamaran. Fast and efficient but not losing its quality. It was the goal of this speakership to advance in the direction and I believe we have achieved quite a bit. Even if it was just a couple of knots, it is still a step forwards. Now it is time to give the baton to the next generation.
And now, I have a personal note. It has been my honour and privilege to serve this Assembly as the Speaker for the last year. I want to thank you all, for your cooperation, your advice, especially to my deputy speaker Meise who has been my rock, a person I could always rely on. With her experience and knowledge, she has played a large role in guiding this Assembly, for that I thank her with my deepest appreciation possible. Furthermore, I wish you all the best, that you may achieve all your political and diplomatic goals, of course, only as far as they align with mine [chuckles], I wish you the best of luck and just a little bit of the opposite so not to unlearn to appreciate it. Dear colleagues, for being my inspiration and challenge I thank you deeply!
The nominations are open for all members, for 7 (seven) days.
