Letter of Complaint to the International Court Concerning the Persecution of Religion in Vrigny

Judges of the International Court,

The Kingdom of Pelinai has observed a concerning pattern of legislation and behavior exhibited by the Fourth Republic of Vrigny regarding the active persecution of privately held religious belief and freedom of worship. This persecution is primarily based on legislation referred to as Article Purple, a provision of the constitution of Vrigny that explicitly prohibits, among other practices, both privately held religious belief and the establishment of houses of worship in gross violation of the principle of freedom of religion as codified in Article 18 of the Declaration of Human Rights of 1956. This prohibition has furthermore been sustained by the Fourth Republic of Vrigny regardless of its recognition of the Declaration as constituting a peremptory norm under international law upon its accession to membership in the World Forum under Article III section 2a of the Charter of the World Forum. The Kingdom of Pelinai finds these acts to be an abhorrent violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms, as well as a mockery of international law and its ability to ensure the respect of these rights and freedoms by governments.

The Kingdom of Pelinai is thus filing this complaint due to the systematic nature of these abuses, as well as the total lack of motion for censure against this behavior by any member of the World Forum either before or since the accession of the Fourth Republic of Vrigny to the World Forum. We find this complete lack of concern over clear, publicized violations of basic international law and the World Forum charter by a full member state, culminating in the recent and openly publicized refusal of the government of Vrigny to amend its constitution to correct the legislative basis of these systematic violations, to be sufficient cause to file this complaint under WFR 1b section B-1a regardless of the absence of Pelinese membership in the World Forum. We therefore formally request that the International Court investigate the nature and extent of these abuses of human rights, particularly whether Article Purple, related legislation, and any enforcement actions performed under the aforementioned constitute violations of WF Charter Article III sections 2a and/or 2c, and that it render penalties against the Fourth Republic of Vrigny as are deemed appropriate to the Court’s findings and are deemed necessary to compel a cessation of continued violations.

Signed,

Boris Akirov
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Pelinai

Aleksej Makarovic
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Pelinai
