What side was huawan on? Ateemara would most likely be on the side of the allies as it would be worried by Karnetvor, more precisely it disturbing it’s power in the south
From what I’ve seen Huawan was on the Allies’ side.
Huawan was an ally of convenience rather than ideology, however
Would there be any pressure on Yttria to be “neutral” instead of neutral?
Sounds good to me
Still an ally!
Also, I was thinking of making Kustannuksa sell resources to the Allies and grow rich in the process like the US did with WW1. It could help explain my very large economy.
The reworked Welgrund Regime’s (Federal Republic of Rekiva) involvement in the Great War involved it forging a secret pact with Karnetvor to hit the allies in exchange for assistance against the belligerent isolationist frost empire, and keep them preoccupied in the Med with Tekarai until a decisive naval battle cripples the Welgrund navy.
So my question was where the Welgrund regime would fit in Karnetvor’s timing to invade. Especially the timing of the pact and whether or not the invasion would negatively affect the Welgrund regime by prematurely throwing them into a war they weren’t ready to get involved in with the reverse also being true.
Right. I need to work out my relationship with giantla before i can make any calls here
I’m thinking that planning would largely have been finished and many preparations would have started or even finished by the time Karnetovor invaded Termina, so perhaps the actual start of operations occurred a few weeks or months early.
I think that Sedunn would have noticed that at least Karnetvor and Tekarai were preparing for war, but wouldn’t have knowledge of actual plans. Sedunn would therefore have made it a priority to take out Tekarai’s navy while in the Med before it could join forces with other Imperialist forces. How powerful would the Welgrund navy be? Perhaps the Welgrund regime could have engaged the Sedunnic forces somewhere around Ardenfontein. Sedunn would have decided to fall back closer to the Strait of Saint Michael for a more favourable position to take on both the Welgrund and the Tekarian navy (while also having access to more air support from the mianland).
The Federal Rekhivan navy was fairly formidable at the time and was comprised of 3 battleships, 15 cruisers, 60 destroyers, 120 torpedo boats, and 80 submarines. However, The navy lacked any formal naval air corp and relied heavily on the Federal Rekhivan Army Air Corp for air support.
Could it have afforded that though? Sedunn (who I think would be several times wealthier) had like only twice those numbers (though it had carriers too). And that’s the total number of ships in service throughout the war and not only at the beginning.
Karnetvor, for reference, lost fewer ships than that throughout the entire war, and that would have represented a majority of its forces. (Though Karnetvor’s numbers may need some revising due to receiving more territories at the start of the war with recent revisions.)
RL Japan’s losses were only like twice those of Rekhiva’s starting force. And since Japan lost most of its entire navy, those losses would more or less represent Japan’s total strength. And Japan was a major naval power.
Yes, although the Welgrund regime’s continued heavy spending on defense after the Great War and repression led to severe economic problems and hardships that inevitably sparked the Communist revolution that deposed the Welgrund Regime after Welgrund’s death.
Even though the navy boasted formidable numbers, the welgrund regime couldn’t afford to replace their losses in spite of their efforts
Forgot to mention this but the submarines and patrol boats both had a limited range restricting them to coastal use and were meant to ambush landing parties and harass ships in the south med. although they could be towed by the larger cruisers and destroyers to operate outside their normal range.
Also Qwert, thinking of exploribg Struanian-Karnetvorian relations during the GW further if you dont mind. I was thinking Struania could be a (more reliable and competent) Italy to Karnetvor’s Germany, especially with the whole Molotov-Ribbentrop pact thing. You up for discussions regarding this?
Sure! I think Karnetvor’s main (secret) goal would be to have an ally that could strike Huawan and deprive it of its naval forces.
Struania could fill this role (second one mightve been used as justification to expand the Struanian Armada). The Minister of Foreign Affairs and State Relations between 1938-1955 wouldve been Stepan Kuma, who also probably lobbied the Struanian government to align itself with Karnetvor and a key figure to the pact between the two states (Karnetvorian?-Kuma Pact)
Struania may have believed it would receive support from other Imperialist states in launcing Operation Nora since most of its forces were tied down in the fight in South Cordilia, but Karnetvor was tied down in the Subcapricorn which meant probably not as big of a support as previously expected. This may have been one of the primary reasons for the failure of Operation Nora
Alr time to get sh#t running again
@blevus @isurvivedurm0m what were you guys’ countries doing during the Great War?
I was neutral for the most part, then in 1950 the father states took one of my provinces.
I did end up rejoining the war in 1953 to put the monarchy of my other nation back in power.
That’s basically it.
You open with a possible Struanian-Karnetvotian invasion of Kaleara colony? Struania had a sort-of “Strike South” doctrine known as Operation Kora (meaning South) which seeks to connect Struania with its ally Karnetvor. The invasion may have taken place at the same time as the FS invasion in 1950
