Discussion on the Future of A1-0

I realized I’m a bit late to the train but I’m pretty open to the retcon. Most of my lore isn’t too dependent on the nations being banished into the shadow realm and I’ve been working on rebooting Weisserstein a bit. Also, I would like to continue the Tiyanki Territories concept, albeit something more community driven which wouldn’t be too dependent on a single RPer

How about I (or someone else willing) create a draft of all desired changes brought up here and elsewhere that we then can discuss and amend. Maybe like wiki post here on the forums (everyone can edit)? Then we amend and edit it until we reach consensus. I think this has the potential to be efficient.

That sounds good, yeah

Do we want to split it among us? Ex. @im_a_waffle1 should probably write the part for what to do with the TT, since he already has a plan for us to discuss

I concur with Qwert’s previous suggestion to create a wiki post. I’d like to throw out an idea—do away with all strict stat guidelines and go with an application process with map requests. New players requesting a plot would have to fill out an application (probably just everything that is already on the map application plus population numbers and a brief description of the country). Then it would be reviewed by a map manager to ensure the numbers are fine. If they’re fine, the country gets added, and if they’re not, the player and a map manager/mod will try to find a place that is better and fits more into our vision of what we want A1-0 to be.

And, a suggestion for NPNs: how about we have none? NPNs should only be added by map managers/RP mods, and we can’t allow one person to unilaterally create an NPN. Mav did this and it led to him having some kind of “possession” of his NPNs (especially the Zelvan Regime) despite it supposedly belonging to the community.

It’s an interesting idea, my problem with that is that they could just change the stats afterwards. At the very least, we should have recommended ranges for stuff like population, and then a hard cap that you absolutely cannot pass. On the topic of population, do we count virtuals towards that?

Technically they should count, but effectively speaking virtual sophonts are much, much less costly than embodied ones, and need much less resources.

I’m relatively indifferent to it, so you guys vote on and decide that, but personally I think we probably shouldn’t count them. Or at least, they can be a separate population number.

Ex:

76.5 trillion (embodied) ; 92.4 trillion (virtuals)

Just an idea though, so feel free to ignore it. As I already said, you guys decide.

My new nation has a population of 1 so i don’t need to worry about the population limit lol, up to y’all

If we agree on a population limit, are we going to factor in the map changes? Population in quadrillions seems a bit much for me.

Also, would non-sapients count towards population? Some AI nations with a population of less then 20 might use this as a loophole (no offence Zero).

i suppose they shouldnt count, since non-sapients arent that relevant to the roleplay and even bacteria would be included in the category, imo

no offence, its understandable

however, now that you edited the message, yeah, there should be a limit on robot population like with the military and stuff, if you meant that

That’s what I meant

No matter what, no one should ever have a population going over 1 quadrillion. This goes for single nations, merged nations, whatever. I also feel that virtuals should count towards the population cap, or at the very least have their own cap that is smaller than that of the normal population cap (but obviously not small enough to ruin any virtual rp potential). Not capping them in some way would be a broken system, and if used by the wrong people can easily teeter into godmodding.

Nobody should be approaching Half a Quadrillion honestly, and merged nations should be be capped at 1 quadrillion

Caps should be placed on stuff that matters

“Planet/System” Killers, Big Naval Vessels (Cruisers+), people can calculate their own Tooth-to-tail ratio (Combat to Support Ratio)

I agree here, a strict balance should be established to prevent any nation gaining full hegemony over the entire sector

What constitutes a merged nation though?

Two or more plots that are a single nation

To what extent though? If one plot gains some of another plots territory through war, is that a merged plot yet? Also, would COE have counted as a merged plot since the Colestia plot wasn’t fully part of it?
