[2538.AP] Changing the PM's title

Ok hear me out, I say we change the leader of the executive branch’s name to President.

A Prime Minister is someone who is a member of a parliamentary system and gets voted in by other members of a parliament.

While a President is someone who is (pretty much) directly elected by the people.
Now, which one of those sounds more like the system we have in TSP? If you said President, you would be correct!
It’s a small but simple change that I believe should be implemented.

Thank you for your time,

we should call them the “Their Highness Glory of the South Pacific, The one who’s most generous and protecting of our liberties.”

I find the idea of using a different title quite interesting. However, in my view, “Prime Minister” is a more fitting title for our head of government than “President”, given that our system distinguishes between the head of state (the Delegate) and the head of government (the Prime Minister).

It might make more sense for the Delegate to carry the title of President.

Someone proposed changing PM to Chancellor a year ago or so. I found that idea vaguely intriguing.

Also, a decent option.

I’d like to keep the title as it is or entertain the idea of renaming it to Chancellor as @welly mentioned.

Presidents are typically the heads of state; in TSP and almost every other country, the Prime Minister is not the head of state. In TSP, the Delegate fulfills this role, not the prime minister.

when I hear chancellor I think of Germany, then I think of Europe.

Another option we can consider is First Minister.

Not always, the Prime Minister is the Leader of the Party achieving the highest number of Seats in a Parliament, who has also won their own Seat in Parliament. The President is not always in Parliament but whether a President is a Head of Government or not, they are always Head of State. We have a Head of State separate to our Head of Government so the proposal should be to change the Delegate’s title, not the Prime Minister’s.

Prime means first, by the way, so First Minister is the same as Prime Minister.

I wouldn’t object to that, nor to calling the Delegate “President of the Coalition”. Just saying…

I like all of these. So many options :stuck_out_tongue:

I find this idea intriguing but fail to see the nessecity of this change or a reason for this change.

Change is good.

Wait would we rather change the delegates title or the PM’s title?

Yes it is, however some change is not always needed.

How about “Supreme Leader” :face_with_tongue:

@Amerion might have a thing or two to say about that proposal…

A wayyyyy better proposal is [cool prime minister name here

I don’t see any reason to change the name Prime Minister, or any other position’s name. I like the name how it is and am against any change to it. Changing it purely because of novelty is a poor decision.

I disagree, [enter reason here]
