[2447.CN] Cabinet Formation & Appointments

I agreed to perform a highly specific portfolio of work and am not interested in taking on any additional roles.

I’m disappointed that I seem to be the only Minister brought on to perform a specific set of tasks. In fact, recruitment seems to be the only area where there is a specific agenda. That’s concerning.

It is in a way, since they make their own cultures and roleplay about it, and roleplay is kind of culture, since were branching off into their own ideas, and culture is sometimes based off of roleplay, if you go and see many regions their roleplay regions, and that’s their culture, so Culture and Roleplay are similar in a way

Well, I made an idea, and clearly it wasn’t a good one. But in my opinion there has to be a solid plan first for Culture before this should be sent to a vote, it’s my final decision but I feel that would be the best course of action. There has to be some risk here we’re gonna have to take even we don’t have a valuable plan for Culture.

I don’t particularly care to hold up the nominations here not on their own merits but rather out of some desire for a specific ministerial appointment or an articulated vision from the Prime Minister. A lack of clarity on how to promote regional culture is different from a lack of culture.

RP certainly is somewhat similar to culture and falls under its umbrella, but when it comes to purposes of executive agenda they are two very distinct things.

I disagree most of the time RP has fallen under a culture agenda, and is continuing to do so

Roleplay can have a place in a cultural agenda but it cannot be the cultural agenda. There is more to culture than simply roleplay, particularly in a region as diverse as TSP.

That being said, roleplay regions are awesome.

Greetings. I apologize for taking a bit, but finally, these are some general ideas and plans for the Ministry of Defence for this term:

  • Starting up a custom for SPSF commanders to utilize the forum in order to facilitate and streamline conversations when it comes into participating, or setting up operations; as well as giving out formal opinions with recruitment and promotions. With this, a “Officer Corps” role would substitute the Admiralty role in the forums.
  • Ensuring that SPSF leadership has a democratic way of planning out and taking initiatives, making sure that senior leadership (Admiralty) has a final say on what has been discussed by the entirety of the Officer Corps. This goal’s main purpose would be to ensure that unpopular plans, or those who may not be the SPSF and TSP’s best interest, do not go into action prior to discussion.
  • Starting a discussion on integrating Foreign Affairs and World Assembly teams into operations, in order for the SPSF to develop the ability to submit well-written Security Council resolutions, as well as coordinating SPSF efforts with other military organizations and regions, if deemed necessary by the Officer Corps and Admiralty.

These goals clearly affect the upper levels; commanders and Admiralty, of the SPSF. What about the rest of the SPSF, which is the heart and soul of the organization? These are some more ideas for the term:

  • A standard recruitment program: With the experience I had acquired from my last term, I will continue to ensure that the SPSF keeps getting an influx of new members. This will involve, hopefully quick, acceptance of SPSF applications, with the necessary coordination with CitComm in order for those who apply to the SPSF not to lose interest due to a very slow acceptance process. Another part of this recruitment program would be to advertise the SPSF both in the RMB and discord, in order to attract attention towards the organization.
  • Safeguarding training: Training is very clearly an essential part of the SPSF. Trainees will be able to recieve theoretical training from officers, as well as other members who may want to teach their colleagues, as is usual for a NS military. Officers will not only have to train new members or those who want to recieve training, but also make sure that members are learning the necessary in order to progress in the SPSF.
  • A functional Tidal Force: Last term, the Tidal Force was revived after a very long piling order during my term. The Tidal Force also recieved some aesthetic ranks, as well as a system to grant cards as a reward for participating. However, there were still several shorter piling orders during these last months, in which the Tidal Force had to participate. We should study how popular piling orders are within the Tidal Force, and how effective they are as a result. After all, with the Tidal Force rank requirements, it is safe to say that the Tidal Force is designed for short, one update, missions to keep engagement up.

These are only some of the main ideas for the term, and may change as the term goes on, depending on the SPSF’s situation. I’m here to answer any questions you may have.

I’m in talks with a citizen about a culture agenda for the term. Will update on how it goes once we’ve finalized the discussion. I intend to move the current appointments to a vote tomorrow, however, so we can get the recruitment and defense agenda started as soon as possible.

I move the appointments of HumanSanity, LordNwahs, and Vrigny to a vote.

I’ll second the motion

We are now at a vote!

I am appointing @Silva as Minister of Culture. He is no stranger to the role, and will post the agenda we’ve developed shortly.

First of all, hello!
Well, my plan for culture this term involves:

First, support for planning and publicizing events held by RMB members; and encourage them to do so. I see that sometimes a few events are held, but I think the Ministry of Culture can influence people to do this and show that we are there to help them at any stage of the process. From writing the dispatch to publishing it. My wish is to see a region with new things to enjoy and join in on a constant basis, and to show members that they can do it too and won’t do it alone.

Second, a RP Newspaper, reporting on Roleplay events taking place in Knowhere. I find that RP on Knowhere is in some ways the most accessible medium for any member and some interesting things sometimes happen there. I think it would be great if the Ministry of Culture got involved in this and published a newspaper every 15 days or 1 month, telling about everything that happened. I think this will influence more people to participate and it is also a viable alternative and, in my view, a very good one.

Third, plan and carry out an event that is different from the previous one. I was thinking of something like a poetry contest, which sounds good to me. I also thought about a photography contest, which was mentioned by someone from RMB that I don’t remember. The first one, however, is more accessible; if everything goes well, we might be able to do the photography one after the poetry submission deadline.

Fourth, hire Secretaries of Culture to assist me in my activities, such as help me planning activities/events, opinions and suggestions on the drafts and, if desired, assign them to a certain activity, with my supervision, and prepare them to be future Ministers. As in the two previous terms.

Fifth, see, but not yet certainly, what is possible to do regarding Discord, since there is a lack of adherence in activities. I’m still going to study this and see what is most desired and what attracts people the most.

Sixth, keep an eye out and plan special things for regional holidays. Many of them have been forgotten and, as I did during my term as Minister of Culture, I want to give them greater importance. Promote a culture where holidays actually mean something. The holidays that will coincide with this term will be Foundation Day (31 December) and Delegate’s Day (1 January).

Well, that’s it! I hope you like it.

For what it’s worth, I already miss the times when Prime Ministers would promise cultural plans on all platforms:

This seems like a fairly narrow set of cultural plans, with specific plans only for on-site venues (RMB events, Knowhere roleplay). There’s no mention of the forums at all (despite Henn mentioning discussions in Lampshade Bar and Grill during the campaign) and nothing specific related to Discord except a promise to “study” it.

We seem quite fond of phrasing critiques as questions :stuck_out_tongue: so here’s one for the nominee for Minister of Culture. What have you learned from your time in and out of office since April 19, when you also didn’t have any specific plans for promoting regional culture on Discord?

I’ve learned that it’s harder than I thought to attract attention to this and retain an audience. That’s why I said I’m going to study this further, and possibly do some tests. I feel like inviting people to an event on Discord is harder than anywhere else.
My main objects will be: What attracts people the most? What do they want from Discord? Depending on the event, what is the best time? Is it possible for these Discord events to be non-exclusive and also involve other areas like Forums and RMB?
This will range from direct questions from people who actively participate in Discord to the general public.

This is something I’ll take point on, vice leaving it to the MoC.

This is a great question. Do you plan on asking similar questions of “RMB events”? Is it possible for events held by “RMB members” to be non-exclusive and also involve other areas like the forums and Discord?

Well, considering that most events held by RMB members involve, in the cases I’ve seen, a “registration form”, yes, I think it’s possible. I will make an effort to advertise this everywhere possible. In other words, most of these events are based on “hey, fill out this form to participate.”
If, for some reason, there is an event that deviates from the norm, I will look for ways to talk directly with the event creator about how to integrate other members from other parts of the community, and, of course, mention the advantages such as greater visibility and participation. What is the solution for other members to be included? It depends. Maybe make the registration rules a little more flexible? Accept other forms of registration besides the usual one, which is a dispatch? Each case is different, and it also depends on the wishes of the event creator.

I motion to vote the appointment of Silva as Minister of Culture.
