Will Drew continue worshipping Concrete Slab as Minister of Defense?
not unless he asks me to
We are in a great period for defenderdom. “Raider Unity” as we know it is dead, and raiding is limited to the occasional indie tag raid or TCB occupation, both of which are easily stompable by our large forces. However, we cannot grow complacent. If raiders catch us in a weakened state, they would likely return back to activity and be dominant again. This is why I will primary focus on internal training and development of our force as MoD. Officers tend to stick in defenderdom, and are able to provide strong guidance and leadership through multiple eras of defenderdom. If we focus on recruiting and develop more quality regular updaters and officers, we will have a strong force that will help anchor defenderdom even if raider becomes dominant again in the future. Of course, this effort starts at the core, with quality recruiting of potential defender talent. I particularly want to focus on gameside recruitment. Slab did a really good job with this, and successfully recruited several liberators from the gameside, some of which (such as myself) went on to become regular updaters and even officers. The gameside is a consistently neglected pool of talent, especially for the military, and I feel like if we tap into gameside recruitment better, we would have a much larger and more successful force. This is why we will have an SPSF recruitment drive that will focus on the gameside. This will involve SPSF officers interacting directly with gameside players and introducing them to the military. Defender Day is also coming up soon, and we will have wargames similar to the Defender Olympics events, namely chasing, liberation, and detagging games.
Another area that I want to focus on is updating our rank promotion standards and our outdated laws concerning the military. Our Ensign criteria, for example, was written before the public release of Reliant, which has made defending much easier and rendered the current standards insufficient and incredibly basic. We are in the process of updating our rank promotion criteria to keep up with the current state of defending. We are additionally considering adding a Senior Ensign rank in between Ensign and Lieutenant to reward active and experienced updaters and bridge the large gap between Ensign and the officer/Lieutenant rank.
I would hope the answer is a resounding “No” regardless of him asking for it.
