UKED State Visit To Kustannuksa

King Joshua VII
ERNS Emral (BB-19)
A Few Miles off the Coast of Kustannuksa

Commanding Officer’s Cabin

(King Joshua VII)“Bridge, when are we to arrive?”

(Radio Operator)“We have another 2 Hours sir, Commander Eric is putting us at full speed to try and get their faster”

(King Joshua VII)“Right, carry on Ensign, Captain out”

Captain, a rank he hadn’t used since he became King. It is an interesting and rather confusing part of Emeraldian Law, if the King is an active part of the military, his rank shall be kept. This was just the first time it had happened for the ERN, since he was the Commanding Officer of the ERNS Emral, and still legally is. He tried to put all that behind however as he prepared for his State Visit to Kustannuksa, a state not to dissimilar to Emerald.

Knock, Knock

(King Joshua VII)“Come In”

Lt. Daniel Rousteu, 3rd Royal Guards, walks in.

(King Joshua VII)“Lt. Daniel, welcome. Do you have something to share with me?”

(Lt. Daniel Rousteu)“Yes, your majesty, its a message from General Nielsen”

(King Joshua VII)“Leave it on my desk, I’ll look at it later”

(Lt. Daniel Rousteu)“Yes, your majesty”

Yet another thing that amazed him, his cabin still had his personal decorations, from photos to his bedsheets, everything had stayed and were upkept by the ships crew. Joshua refocused to the state visit. He had a little under two hours to prepare, he might as well prepare now.

2 Hours and 5 Minutes Later…

As the sun set above the western bank of the Västvil, the large battleship of the Union Delegation entered Mahsaam Harbor. Recognizable through its iconic bridge, Mahsaam was one of the two main harbors in Pohjoinen - the other one being Hamvit, on the delta of the Östvil -, located in the new part of the capital on the delta of the Västvil river.

As the ERNS Emral reached the designated berth within the Harbor, and was tied up by the deckies and dockworkers with steel mooring lines to the multiple mooring posts, the Kustannuksan Empress Astrid II waited near the Berth with the rest of the State Reception. As with the other two previous visits, guardrails had been set and multiple security personnel had been deployed to keep the journalists, reporters, photographers and the rest of the public separate from the delegations. A large limousine and other cars waited behind the reception, ready to take them all to the Imperial Palace in the heart of Old Pohjoinen.

Cameras started flashing and reporters started speaking behind the delegation, as King Joshua VII exited from the Emral. Astrid and the King had met multiple times before in the past decade, and she began walking towards him, ready to greet the foreign monarch.

As the King stepped off the docking bridge, followed by the entirety of the 3rd Royal Guard, a measure established post Denverian Civil War.

(King Joshua VII)“Empress Astrid, good to see you. It’s been a while hasn’t it? The last we met was before the Civil War… and everything that happened with it.”

Despite it now being close to two years since the Denverian Civil War, the memories still brought on a massive amount of grief to King Joshua, especially with what he had to personally go through.

“It is a pleasure to see you again, King Joshua. And yes, it has been quite a while since we last saw each other. I’m glad to see you are fine, especially after everything that happened two years ago. You have my utmost condolences.”

“But today is not the day for sadness and sorrows. We have quite a lot to discuss for the wellbeing of our nations. Now, if you’ll follow me over to our prepared escorts, we’ll bring you and your guards over to the Imperial Palace. Also, excuse the cameras, ahah. Our citizens can be quite involved in politics, and state visits always make good news.”

(King Joshua VII)“If only that were true, trust me, Astrid, I’m far from fine after all that happened, I’m scarred by what happened, from the siege to the attempt on my life. Do you know what its like to kill someone? Even if they’re a Frankist, you’re still ending the life of a living being, add losing Lt. Streams and Sgt. Keller, 2 of my most trusted friends and advisors, on too that, along with knowing that I was this close to dying following the explosions that were intended to Kill me. I wouldn’t even be here today if weren’t for Streams and Keller, one covered a Grenade, the other jumped in front of me as a bomb detonated in front of me, and it was Lt. Rousteu who ultimately got me out of that rapidly collapsing building, risking his life.”

(King Joshua VII)“sigh, I guess I got carried away, you’re right, today isn’t for sadness and sorrows. Its fine, at this point, I’m rather used to the camera’s, do you have any idea how many speeches I often have to write due to how often Emerald is getting itself in conflicts, the DCW was difficult, the war in Ludville essentially turned us away from Izaakia, Folster was a conflict we should’ve never entered, and Krauanagaz has been just getting worse and worse, but we have an Alliance obligation with Krauanagaz, so Emerald doesn’t have much of a choice, we will not abandon our allies… for a second time.”
