Enjoy the classic TSP Turducken at your next feast or cult meeting.
Ingredients:
For the Drama Llama Shank:
1 drama llama shank (ask your local butcher for a large shank or substitute with a large beef shank if llama is unavailable)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 cup beef or vegetable broth
1 cup South Pacific Iced Tea (optional)
Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, bay leaf)
garlic butter to taste (optional)
For the Stuffed Orphan:
1 small orphan (if using infant, remove the bones)
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup grated cheese (e.g., Parmesan or cheddar)
1/4 cup chopped fresh herbs (parsley, sage, thyme)
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
4 tbsp garlic powder
4 cups South Pacific Iced Tea
Fresh mint leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Prepare the Drama Llama Shank:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Season the drama llama shank with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil in a large ovenproof pot over medium-high heat. Sear the shank on all sides until browned. Remove the shank and set aside. In the same pot, add garlic, onion, carrots, and celery. Sauté until softened. Return the shank to the pot. Add broth, South Pacific Iced Tea (if using), and herbs. Cover and transfer to the oven. Roast for about 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender and falling off the bone. Check occasionally and add more liquid if necessary.
Prepare the Stuffed Orphan:
In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs, cheese, herbs, egg, garlic powder and milk. Mix until well combined. Stuff the small orphan with the mixture. Carefully pour in the South Pacific Iced Tea, allowing as much as possible to soak into the stuffing. If using infant, tie with kitchen twine to secure. Season the outside with salt and pepper. Roast separately according to the meat’s cooking time (about 1 hour per 4lbs of orphan).
Assemble the TSP Turducken:
Carefully remove the cooked drama llama shank from the pot and let it rest. Slice the shank lengthwise to fold the stuffed orphan inside. Tie the shank with kitchen twine around the orphan and braise at low heat for 20-30 minutes. Baste with melted garlic butter (optional).
Slice the shank into strips to reveal the stuffed orphan inside. Arrange on a serving platter. Garnish with mint, parsley, pineapple or orange slices as desired. Serve with sides of your choice and enjoy your traditional TSP turducken!
