Trivalve for Prime Minister

Holy SPIT! He’s running again???

Hello TSP!!!

It would appear that I am running for PM again. I believe the last time I did was back in 2023. Though much has changed since then, there are still some underlying issues that I feel are still prevalent within our region. I hope to address these to the best of my abilities. So you may be wondering why I suddenly decided to put my foot back in the ring. The reason behind this was due to the fact that we keep seeing the same faces again and again in the office of PM. I feel that this is setting a standard for newer nations in which they believe they won’t be successful in running. It is my hope that running for this office may motivate others to also put their foot in the ring, even if I don’t win. Due to this, it is obvious that a major focus of mine is integration, but we will get to this later.

I hold a notable resume within our region. I held a position known as a Deputy Councillor, which was basically an assistant to the late local council. I later moved on to becoming an actual Local Councillor. I have served as a Minister of the region under the title of Minister of On-Site Events (MoOSE for short). Smaller contributions include being a part of the Rules Review Committee and Ebonhands Delegate Advisory during his exceptionally large tenure as delegate. I also created the regional event known as SwanVision which has currently run for five years now, of which I have hosted three of those years.

Now onto my plans for the region!

Intergration

Yes, that’s right. Integration will be a major focus point of my term just like my last campaign. The region does hold a significant issue with the lack of new faces putting themselves into different positions within our region. I hope to significantly increase the number of newer faces within our region and give them the tools they need to succeed and move their way up to better roles. This would be done with an increase in advertisements for legislatorship on the gameside and the addition of newer members into the domestic advisory to train them up in regional decision-making.

Culture

Now onto culture. That’s right! SwanVision will be making its return for its 6th rendition. I feel as if SwanVision has become a significant part of our regional culture, so I wish to continue running the event. Aside from that, I wish to get the prevalent members of our RMB into an advisory team to help with the running and creation of events. This links into my integration plans as I hope this motivates more people to get involved on their own volition. Possible inter-regional events are on the table as well.

Foreign Affairs

At the moment, our public image within the wider domain of NationStates is not the best. Due to moderation negligence, many outside our region have had their image of us tarnished. I hope to begin reparations with our closer regions so that they may view us in a better light again. Once this is done, opening the table up to inter-regional events will definitely be a possibility.

Military

In terms of the current state of our military, I don’t have any plans for changes yet. However, I wish to get in contact with our current military leadership to see what problems they currently have and to decide how we may address them.

Oversight

After our moderation scandal, I wish to reestablish our regional accountability. My plan for this is to implement a new Minister who will be in charge of oversight of our different departments such as Chair of Assembly, CRS, High Court etc to ensure that the necessary work is being done and that activity is at a reasonable standard. Obviously, this Minister won’t have access to any of the private channels, but they will periodically request status updates from the departments to ensure everything is running well. They will then make an update of our status for the region and others to view so that our accountability can be repaired. Also, this Minister will be called Minister of Oversight which when shortened, is MOO hehehehe.

This is my current plan for the region however it will most likely evolve and improve as the term goes on and we make more discoveries.

Now go ask those questions flooding your brains!

Ok I don’t have many questions right now, but here are these:

Could you provide further clarification regarding “the domestic advisory"? Specifically, I would appreciate it if you could elaborate on the nature of the positions that this advisory may or may not encompass.

On MOO
For me, the responsibility of the Prime Minister is to manage their cabinet. Creating an entirely new ministry just to have oversight seems somewhat lazy, in my opinion.
Yes, TSP needs to rebuild its trust and reputation with its allies, but I just don’t think some status reports will do that.
(I do think the acronym is fire, though)

The domestic advisory is an already created advisory where certain region members can input there opinions or help out with matters

As for your second question, you read it wrong. MOO won’t be overseeing the other ministers, that’s my job. MOO will be overseeing other areas such as moderation, administration, assembly etc

Administration as in?

Our administrative team

Well, if that’s true, MOO seems like a decent idea.

Not to break the canon or anything, but how will an ic ministry oversee/hold authority over an ooc body?

Just to clarify, we will not hold any power over the OOC bodies. This is more for us to gather information on the status of each body on how they are going. They can refuse to cooperate with us but that would not look good publicly. Plus if we manage to expose any form of negligence we can use relevant OOC bodies such as the high court (yes I know high court is also IC) to deal with these instances as needed.

The way you’re breaking the IC/OOC boundary with your idea of MOO is very dangerous.

By nature, conducting IC politics isn’t always exactly wholesome; people are going to be interested in pushing their agenda, helping their allies, and bringing down their enemies. This can sometimes take the form of tactics like lying or half-truths, withholding information, quid pro quo, etc. OOC moderation is intended to rise above that–to protect the safety of everyone in the community without caring about political interests.

MOO is a part of the IC government, so therefore it inherits the IC government’s interests. This can lead to attempts to influence OOC moderation based on those interests (for example, pursuing the ban of an enemy or ignoring the rule-breaking behavior of an ally). You may claim that MOO won’t literally have the power to force administration to do anything, but bringing publicity to a situation is very much a way for MOO to exert influence.

OOC moderation needs to operate completely separate from IC government in order to properly do its job of protecting community safety. As a community, we can hold our moderation accountable without bringing IC government into it.

(Also, the High Court is 100% IC.)

(Also I have other issues with MOO, but I think this is the most important one.)

So after discussions with others and Hyas comment. Ive decided to remove moderation/administration from MOOs focus and keep it to all IC bodies such as chair of assembly, CRS, Coral Guard, High Court, and SPSF. Said change will be edited into the campaign soon.

Your entry on FA hasn’t actually told us anything. Try again.

Update: I’m not doubting that our trust has been tarnished but we are far, far from the only GCR to have been controversial or made mistakes, I’m afraid if other GCRs are expecting some sort of apology, they should apologise for every single controversy they have caused. TNP is no stranger to controversy, TWP isn’t either, need I go on? UCRs also have their mistakes and controversies. The fact it happened is not important, how we move forward and recover is important.

Now that you’ve updated your response to something more than your snarky try again comment, I’ll actually reply.

Reparations doesn’t just mean apologies. It’s about rebuilding trust and accountability. That process is outlined in my oversight section. If we are showing an active effort to avoid these mistakes again then our trust can be rebuilt.

We would be making that effort even if you didn’t become Prime Minister. How is that unique?

Why would that invalidate my efforts? There is nothing wrong with multiple solutions.

The problem is not a case of multiple solutions, it’s about including what would happen either way as if it is unique to your approach. As I stated, it doesn’t really tell us anything.

My approach is outlined in the oversight section.

(Note: I’m looking at this as someone who’s done the rounds in TSP as PM/MoFA/etc., but had been fairly absent for a while)

So, Ministry of Oversight is an … interesting idea. Hya noted quite a few problems I would have otherwise noted, though I don’t think the idea of having something working on oversight isn’t necessarily the worst idea.

On FA, I’m looking for a bit of actual policy, if you have some to share.

I think this would be a good MoC campaign tbh.

So yeah the ive addressed the IC and OOC conflicts by removing all OOC branches from MOOs focus and only having its focus on all IC branches.

I’ll get back to you later on the FA policies as I am currently at work

So is it not for the Prime Minister to oversee Ministries? As for Chair of the Assembly and the High Court, these are positions which are politically neutral, it would be inappropriate to have them answering to a Minister and, therefore, to the Prime Minister, as if it is up to the Prime Minister to keep the Chair and the Chief Justice in order, it is actually up to the Chair to keep the Prime Minister in order, the Prime Minister is NOT above the Chair.

I’ve been in TSP for over a year now and I swear I’ve only seen you maybe twice (and thats being generous) so question for you is where have you been?
