M7S’ e-Parliament: What can citizens expect?
By Naiara Rivera, 22 July 2025

The Stoinian liberal government under Prime Minister Celăreanu has taken on new initiatives to remodel the political system. One daring way to tackle this according to the government is to bring Stoinians closer to political decision-making. How exactly? Through an e-cabinet that links constituents with their representatives. This endeavour has been one of the main campaign points of the Moviemento Siette Estrellas (M7S) during the general elections and was perceived by many critics as an empty political promise. However, M7S is keeping true to its promises to transform the Trans-Pacific Kingdom into an e-democracy where citizen’s voices are stronger. After consolidating their Minister of Internal Affairs, Carlos Verdugo, the party has launched a charm offensive with the announcement of Mi Ciudadana’s Cabinetes Populares.

The experienced Minister of Internal Affairs from the previous government, has taken the Kingdom by storm with multiple press conferences detailing not only how the e-cabinets would work online, but also provided a roadmap of when to expect its full implementation. The ministry has already started with the incremental development and is expected to roll-out the feature by the start of the Capricornian summer. Once the e-cabinets are fully operational, constituents can interact through fora and inform their representative of their stances.

“The system will be quite easy to use, but will require our politicians to regularly engage with the portal. Of, course there are concerns of our elder colleagues and we’re working to expand an MP’s portal to his or her staff as well. We’ve also had initial ideas to showcase direct polls of constituents on legislation, but compromised to publicise the polls after votes in the General Courts out of fear that the polls, which are expected to be skewed until their widespread adoption, might influence constituent responses to their representative,” Minister Verdugo elaborated some of the decisions in his last press conference.

“As much as I’d love to see preferential voting introduced like here in Shai Kong, I think it’s a splendid idea! Our movement has long pleaded for more transparency. Not only in terms of reporting decisions, but also in forming them. I believe this will revolutionise Stoinian democracy and put it at the forefront of democracies worldwide. With this system, rural farmers and urban elites alike have the same access to their representatives. If that isn’t the democratisation of politics, I wouldn’t know what is?” Minister of Foreign Affairs, Former WF Speaker and M7S icon, Tudor Segărceanu voiced his support while visiting Shai Kong.

Even the M7S’ leader, Paganin Corriadi praised the his party initiative. “We’re very pleased to be part of the first government on Pacifica, to introduce a modern outlook on citizenship. We believe this initiative to be the next cornerstone of democracy by informing the parliamentarians of their constituents objections while also allowing them to explain the reality with political nuances. I don’t know about you metropolitans, but we Corinians will immediately feel the effects of this initiative as the South Pacific grows smaller. I don’t think anyone can continue to claim disenfranchised with a more politically connected citizenry.”

When asked about potential security risks, Corriadi responded: “Of course, these concerns haven’t evaded us. To guarantee our national security, we’ll cooperate with our cybersecurity divisions to ensure all of our citizens’ rights are enforced while ensuring the democratic process remains untainted from external perpetrators. Not only that, but we must ensure that we don’t forget the voices of the digitally illiterate, like a significant proportion of our elderly. Right now, we’re still fine-tuning functionalities, but every citizen will be able to access it through the guidance of public servants in their respective town halls.”

Overall, the initiative has gained significant support among the populace. Although sceptics attack the lack of an exit strategy and point out that political parties might abuse this system to circumvent campaign rules, giving them an advantage over challengers, M7S continues to support the initiative, stating that they’ll continue to implement the feedback of sceptics just like they would by using the proposed system. Ultimately, the consequences of this initiative remain unsure, but the globe will watch with keen eyes on this political experiment and many believe that the experiment will prove a success with the politically literate Stoinian electorate.
