The summer tourism has been a boon to Myria. On the forefront are the island cities of Meshan & Tyre which have become the epicentre of touristic holidays. Especially to the middle & upper class around Pacifica who aim for luxurious comforts as social media influencers advertise Myria as the sunny beach in the Mediterranean. The gates of these vacations are of course the international airports which hosted up to roughly 5.2 million foreign tourists over last summer holidays. This increase has been welcomed by all and polls by the Ministry of Tourism have revealed that 87.5% were amazed by professionalism in Myria. Now Myrian airports want to encapsulate and even bigger market for the whole country by lowering airport taxes.

CEO of Meshan International Airport, Samir Khatir, revealed that the airport will be lowering its airport tax from $40.4 per passenger to $28.6. “We hope to stimulate an even larger influx of tourists to Myria and attract new airline companies who target the low-spending segment of the airline market. Synergising off-season vacations to Meshan to suit consumers of lower income with Meshan’s tourism infrastructure.” stated business leader Khatir. Although some critics have raised concerns over the large economic change, Meshan International Airport has turned large amounts of profit over the summer holidays and should be able to continue turning over revenue if it can maintain a steady flux of tourists passing through. Furthermore, last quarter the airport broke even in terms of its renovation investments from 2008. Similarly, Tyre International Airport has lowered its airport tax from $35.2 per passenger to $26.3 and economic experts predict that more airports in Myria & potentially the larger Mediterranean will follow this trend to compete with each other in free-market tactics. Making Myria potentially a leader in tourism in the Mediterranean.
