The Future of the Tidal Force: Discussion

As many familiar with the SPSF may know, the Tidal Force has had problems for a really long time at this point. These problems root from several different issues. However, the main problem for the Tidal Force at the current moment is that for many months already, the R/D environment itself doesn’t really make its labor or goal feasible.

Exposing the current state of the Tidal Force: we have an unorganized hollow space behind a name and description. Currently, there is no official updated list of members of the Tidal Force, the nations they use for the Force, as well as any operations done.

Even worse for that unorganized hollow space is the fact that there are barely, if any, operations the Tidal Force could even take part in at the moment. There are simply not enough detags for the Tidal Force to do for many months now, it’s unsustainable.

I think it’s important to bring this up, since the Tidal Force is a big part of the SPSF for many people, despite its horrible current state, and because people keep applying for it, and since there’s no list and organization, there’s no way we can currently accept them into the Force.

Simply put, the Tidal Force has to change. There are different paths for the Force from now on, which could be: a rebranding of the Tidal Force, changing its functions and goals; or ultimately, saying goodbye to the Tidal Force.

We’d love to see comments or a debate about the future of the Tidal Force.

What are some alternative functions and goals that could give the Tidal Force greater purpose in the current R/D environment?

For now, let’s base future functions on what the Tidal Force supposedly does for now. In its dispatch, the Tidal Force:

  • “Washes away traces of raiders from native regions”: Essentially detags
  • Supports the Tsunami Force
  • Supports allies

In practice, at least for these last years of gameplay, the Tidal Force has only really done the first one out of these three, mainly because it was the simplest, easiest and most common thing to do.

Unfortunately, let’s go to the current R/D environment, in which there’s no detags left, esentially. With the Tidal Force unable to do its first function, the focus should most likely be changed to the two remaining functions.

Other military organizations have some sort of reserve force to aid in big operations. However, we’d have to see how to coordinate the Tidal Force and the Tsunami Force, since some of these operations would be more advanced than what the Tidal Force has previously done.

The simplest of these operations could be piling, which makes the most sense for a reserve force. It’s not something that happens that often, but the way it works supports the idea of the Tidal Force as a reserve force, which could be called upon when it’s needed.
