FRATERNITAS ORIONEM
The Brotherhood of Orion is a order dedicated to collect, preserve and reverse engineer as much Calliopean technology as possible. This includes both civilian and military tech.
Founded as a archival institution before the war with the aliens. In the war’s early stages they realized how it would end and set out to collect as much valuable information as possible. In the last days of Calleope they made their escape, taking over a couple military and civilian ships. After wondering for a few months, barely surviving, they settled on a half destroyed gate forge, now refered to as the Holy of Holies.
During their time wondering and early into setting down a belief arose that they ware saved only by the grace of the tech they collected and that the founder of the initiative, Flavius “Archer” Sissena, was a prophet. That belief quickly spiralled into a religion, with believers, known as orionites, believing they are on a divine mission to restore and advance old calliopean tech so that one day when the aliens return, a event they call the day of swords, they will be ready.
In the years after setting up on the station they have expanded, asserting their control over several planets in the region. The state works on a federal system, with planets being mostly independent but accepting the suzerainty of the brotherhood and paying them a hefty tax in exchange for protection. Brotherhood ships also travel far and wide across the cluster, searching for any remnants of Calleopean tech, to the point of sometimes engaging in combat for it.
