INFORMATION

According to the Legislator Committee Act, legislators must’ve voted in at least half of all votes in each month and maintain a nation in the South Pacific to maintain their position. If your legislator status has been revoked, you can always re-apply.

Since 5 votes finished this month, legislators needed to have voted in at least 3 of them to keep their status.

Not so sure that’s the case. :stuck_out_tongue:

Interestingly all five votes closed in August for those of us in the UK, which means that there weren’t any votes in July for me.

LegComm has removed legislator status from @Silvae due to resignation and @Phil due to their nation ceasing to exist.

We have not removed legislator status from any nations for failure to vote at this time. From our perspective, the intent of Article 2(3) of the Legislator Committee Act stating “if a minimum of two votes occurred” is only legally met by holding 5 concurrent Cabinet confirmation votes, but not met in terms of the intent of the law for revoking the status of inactive legislators. It is entirely understandable for a legislator to have missed a single three day voting period and still be an active member of the community in good standing.

We encourage the Chair of the Assembly and the Assembly to identify a long-term solution to this issue created by the new procedure for Cabinet minister confirmations.

I wasn’t affected but still, thank you, LegComm, for this sensible common-sense step.
