Sports in the South Pacific: Should They Be Brought Back?

Sports in the South Pacific: Should They Be Brought Back?

In the past (around 2021-2023) there were a plethora of independent sporting federations, nations made to administer their specific sport, such as International Ice Hockey Federation, Pro league baseball, and South Pacific Football Association.

These competitions were semi-popular, but ultimately failed due to lack of engagement from the participating nations, or the original nation behind these federations losing interest/ceasing to exist. However, as these competitions were fairly successful on launch, with some lasting a few years before ceasing (International Ice Hockey Federation, Pro League Baseball), the thought occurred to me: Why not have the Ministry of Culture create these competitions?

As a result, I promote these questions for the wider South Pacific to answer:
Should these/Would you like these sports competitions to return?

If you want them to return, would you like the Ministry of Culture (or the relevant government authority) to create these competitions? Or the creation of independent sporting federations/nations as seen in the past?

If you want an independent sporting federation, would you like the Ministry of Culture/relevant authority to promote these sports competitions?

Independent - A nation not involved in government/created by the government

Apologies for any formatting errors or other faults. This is my first time doing this, so it isn’t the best.

Currently we’ve been doing the South Pacific Hockey League (SPHL). I haven’t run it this term because I don’t want to constantly be running it, but I have no plans of stopping it.
The forum thread for it can be found here, although you might need to scroll down as the thread didn’t start off as a serious event. We’ve currently held the Fudge Cup twice, and the announcement dispatch for the most recent one can be found here.
So far it’s been held by me and @ProfessorHenn. I was Minister of Culture during both Fudge Cups, Henn was PM during the first and Delegate during the second, so I would say it has been a Ministry of Culture project, although given how it’s been structured it’s not easy to pass on to others.

I also know @Penguin put together a fantasy football league a while back, but I haven’t been following that super closely. That’s been an independent project.

That’s pretty neat. I have seen the fantasy football league when it was first announced, but I didn’t realize there was a new hockey league.

I haven’t been active in recent years so I must’ve missed the original thread. Its good knowing that TSP Sports is doing fairly well. Even if it’s a small sample size currently.
