Southern Gate Festival - Submissions

Welcome to the Southern Gate Festival!

This is the major cultural event of Pacifica, in which we all will determine, who can create the best films, who has the best series and who is leaving everyone in awe with their music.

The Southern Gate Festival is a cultural event taking place in Südtor, Gianatla, sponsored mainly by the Gianlucian government, namely the Ministry of Culture, the audio streaming service Audit and the video streaming service Risa. Since 1986 it has awarded the best Gianlucian pieces of media on an annual basis, as of 2021 even from the entire rest of the world too. Be welcomed to share with the world your creative works, earn the international respect and recognition you deserve!

The festival officially consists of two competitions: The film festival “Golden Gates” and the Pacivision Song Contest. As of 2022 both competitions are held separately with Pacivision happening earlier in the year and the Golden Gates being awarded at the end of a year. The Golden Gate ceremony is traditionally seen as the main event of the Southern Gate Festival.

Rules

During the film festival the best films and series of Pacifica will be awarded “The Golden Gates” in the categories “Best Film”, “Best Series”, “Best Advertisement” and “Best Director”. Each trophy is endowed to One Million Gianlucian Tacks (1 Tack = 1 Euro IRL). Furthermore each film or series, which has won at least one trophy will be added to the films and series Risa offers in its international line-up.

Each nation may submit one film and/or one series. One more film or series may be submitted, if it is a co-production between two countries without the same roleplayer behind it!
This means, you can submit three entries at max (1 film + 1 series + 1 co-production with another roleplayer, which counts as a co-produced entry for both roleplayers)!

To submit a film/series, please fill out the form below. It has to be an original piece!

However, ammunition reserves deplete with each passing day and the ambassadorial staff begin to panic. The situation grows dire but a daring rescue mission is in the making back on Bailtem.

Private Alexandru Pițurcă (Constantin Stoica) is deployed on his first mission with the Stoinian Special Forces. It’s an overseas mission where his mettle will truly be tested. Though as he arrives in Denver, he struggles with his orders as he witnesses numerous atrocities take place around Hawk. Although his mission parameters prohibit any unnecessary intervention, his inner conscience struggles with the reality of a distant civil war.

Additional Information: This film is based on the official report of Operation Kestrel and interviews by military and civilian personnel from multiple nations. Operation Kestrel was a joint military coalition of special forces rescuing the ambassadorial staff in the Hawk embassy before the eventual nuking of the city.

The movie sends a strong message with a short sequence before the end credits about the nature of international politics where nations stand idly by as atrocities are committed. Instead of circular debates, the movie emphasizes the need for international action against savagery from past centuries.

Genre: Sci Fi/Fantasy
Running Time: 86 minutes
Rating: PG-13
Poster/Advertisements: (Coming Soon possibly! I just don’t want to forget to post the submission by the deadline if I don’t manage to finish the entire image on time)
Synopsis: Panixi (Kiana Sisumi) had always dreamed of leaving her little village behind and exploring the great jungle outside. After a particularily rough dry season that continues, the jungle is drying up and the fire falcons still fail to return. The village falls ill so, in a last ditch effort, Panixi sets out to find the fire falcons. On the way, she meets Mumuto (Tyler White) and Haia (Siami Ikuri), who are from another village that has encountered a similar fate. They embark on an adventure together, searching for the falcons before the jungle dies.

In this film by the legendary Finixi director Ainsley Kuri, experience the natural wonders of FiHami, told through cutting-edge CGI and high-quality live-action in FiHami’s very jungles. Bridge tensions between generations, race, gender, and culture. And most importantly, find the feathers between you and your destiny.

Additional Information: This movie is based on the traditional story of Panixi, which tells the story of a rebellious girl who runs away from her village when the jungle dies, returning with the rain and the fire falcons, carrying fish and berries enough to feed the village for weeks. This was a cautionary tale against standing in the way of the youth growing up by protecting them too much, for the young ones will eventually save us all. It is retold through a more modern lens, focusing more on Panixi’s adventures.

The director has explicitly stated in interviews that the “love triangle” that fans keep trying to create does not exist and to please stop forcing their toxic romantic ideas on the trio, who are explicitly friends and nothing else.

Synopsis: Evil lurks in Gallitown. For months, citizens have gone missing, with the only clues to their disappearance being the ramblings of a “fish-man” in the woods. Yet people keep being found hanging from fishing hooks, starved in nets, suffocated in factories. When a group of residents go out to put an end to the killings, they find themselves ensnared in a fight for their survival. The mysterious fish-beast picks them off one at a time, and they soon realize their deadly mistake.
Men can die, but Whitewater… Whitewater is eternal.
Additional Information: While Whitewater can stand on its own as a horror movie, director Ferrik Giosk wanted to make sure this was a movie that had messages. Coming from a small fishing community himself, he was disgusted by the unsustainable practices of big fishing corporations, and the impact it left on the environment, and society. Co-Director Jenil Pice also took the opportunity to showcase the dangers of blind faith, and how the only one who can save you from death is yourself.

ANDROU

(Plz ignore the few spelling errors in it, caused by my keyboard slowly dying on me and me not paying attention)

Synopsis: the movie follows the live of general Konstantinos Androu, the main leader of the Thalapadian revolution and the nation’s first president, between him becoming general and his death.
Andru became general at a relatively young age thanks to his skill and sharp mind, but due to the cast sistem as a agean he was still subservient to his rykapadian peers. Swayed by Bartholomew II Mathis, wanting to get more money so he can create a modern military and possibly invade the mainland, Alden III implements new taxes specifically aimed on ageans, which could lead to many of them going into poverty. The taxes ware not well received by the ageans, leading to riots all across the nation. Valentinos Antonides’s father, a well respected and high ranking naval officer, refused to fire on his own people when ordered. He was killed for his actions, in front of the eyes of a young Valentinos Antonides. Antonides swore revenge and rallied the people who ware under his father’s command into a full mutiny, starting the thalapadian revolution. In a badly calculated move the monarch send Andru to put down the uprising, but instead he joins it. One by one more and more military detachments join them. Eventually Andru wins the crucial battle of Heaven’s throne, capturing the royal palace and ordering the execution of almost every noble in it including the whole royal family. Soon afterwards the congressional republic is created, and Andru is elected president of congress. The rest of the movie sums up his time in office, notably excluding the power getting to his head and the founding of STRATA. The movie ends with him dying of a stroke, and Valentinos Antonides, his successor, holding his hand on his coffin
Additional Information: The president of the congress notably makes a cameo at the end of the movie, playing himself
