September 2024 Prime Minister Election

I think that this term would actually be excellent for those with minimal experience. Since it’s shorter you don’t need quite the agenda you would normally. For things that require experience you can easily rely on ministers and if something isn’t going great we’re not stuck doing it for a whole term

Hang on, I thought it was extra long. Can someone better at math than me confirm definitively?

@Welly, when does the normal term end?

Your definitely right, but I am not sure how much longer it is

I’m not super familiar with how long terms are like this so I could very easily be wrong.

This term would have ended on November 1, with elections beginning on October 15. Nwahs resigned on September 17, which is just over 1.5 months into the three month term (which began on August 1). Thus, I believe the next term should be ~4 months, running from whenever this election ends to February 1.

I (mistakenly) assumed that there was enough time to only have the new PM serve for the remainder of the term.

If my math is correct; the PM will only serve until November

Hmmm. There were 92 days in this term (August 1-October 31). Nwahs resigned on day 48 (September 17), and hence served a full 47 days in office. That means Nwahs served for 51% of the term (47 days / 92 days). If that math is correct, then I believe that “less than half of the term remains,” so “the [newly] elected Prime Minister will serve the remainder of the scheduled term and the additional subsequent full term.” Elections Act 6(1)b.

Can someone confirm that math?

You’re definitely right, and I agree but this isn’t my time right now. I would rather have @ProfessorHenn or another experienced player be PM than me. I would definitely run in the future if that opportunity comes and I will run for other offices if that opportunity comes. I love politics and TSP, and I will definitely continue to be active in TSP Politics and TSP itself for years to come.

Lmao my quick maths incorrectly assumed a four month term was still standard. You are correct!

I tried to time my resignation for a longer term :pikathink:

Please keep this topic to declarations.

Thank you for the nomination, but I must decline due to real life. Even while the commitments that caused me to resign as Minister of Engagement have passed, I believe that there are likely others that would affect my position as PM should I accept the nominations.
