Prometheus (the star) photographed shortly before the Prometheus incident

Prometheus was a star system based on a K1V class (orange dwarf) star with several rocky planets, one of which was habitable and supported a civilization, called the Hiq’il.
Gaia claimed the system and started colonizing the habitable planet they named Promethia around 100 years before the collapse. The colonization efforts started peacefully with a large cultural exchange happening between the colonists and the natives, most notably with the colonists adopting a lot of elements from Hiq’il religion, but with time got sour, partly driven by a strong segregation staying in place because of the biological incompatibility of the two species. This culminated in the Hiq’il blood war, a long and grueling conflict which resulted in the presumed extinction of the Hiq’il and the birth of the Promethian warrior spirit.
Prometheus built a reputation for providing the best soliders in Gaia, having a reputation for being fearless motivated and enduring. The system also was a major center of arms production, only second to Alaria and Gaia itself, and had a shipyard in orbit.
After the orion incident and destruction of Gaia admiral Lucius Aemilius Scipio ordered app the ships under his command to move to Prometheus as well as calling all promethean soliders to come home and took controll of the planet declaring the provisional government of Prometheus and all of Gaia, with the goal of stabilizing the collapsed Gaia and make a new state centered on Prometheus. At it’s peak this state held 3 systems and seemed like a likely contender to unify Gaia once again.
These efforts lead to other post gaian military governments with the same ambitions band together and in 3 AG launch a major push against them, which was mostly unsuccessful. This lead to the 3rd firing of Archer, aimed for promethia.
Artist’s representation of the Prometheus incident, the star Prometheus being thorn apart by gravitational forces caused by a missed shot from archer
The shot missed the planet due to a mathematical error, but instead hit the star of the system, Prometheus, revealing the true power of archer. The sheer gravitational force of the shot not only tore the star apart, but created a body of negative mass in the middle that has since collapsed, making it so the gas from the star couldn’t reform it. This terrifying event has since been referred to as the Prometheus incident.
Admiral Lucius Aemilius Scipio, knowing that he had limited time to save his people before the gas cooled down and light left the system, ordered a fleet of all available ships, civilian and military, to be assembled at Promethia to evacuate as many people as possible. These efforts ware hindered by the sheer chaos of the event and attacks from other nations, leading to the evacuation fleet to have only 60 military ships. Mostly thanks to having access to some gaian colony ships they managed to evacuate 100 million people, but that was still only 5% of the population of the planet. This event is known as the Promethian exodus.
The evacuation fleet was pursued by foreign military assets constantly, with skirmishes happening often. Knowing the evacuation fleet would be destroyed if he didn’t do anything Scipio broke off a fleet of 15 advanced military ships from the evacuation fleet to face the enemy in what’s now known as Scipio’s rock after him. Outnumbered 3 to 1 the fleet faced the enemy, buying enough time for the evacuation fleet to get far away. Scipio lost his life in this battle but took more than half of the enemy fleet with him, forcing the rest of the ships to turn back and saving his people.

The evacuation fleet established the colony of Sanctuary in the Epimetheus system, and soon after new Promethia in Elpis, forming the foundation of what would become the Promethian aristocratic republic.
