Resignation as Prime Minister

My fellow South Pacificans,

I did not expect or want this term to go this way.

As I had mentioned earlier, I had a close family member pass at the very start of my term. There are extenuating circumstances that made this death harder for me than I expected it to be, but I fear there’s only so much I’m willing to say in a public statement. I will mention that the sudden responsibilities I had to take on ended up greatly delaying and condensing my final work of my degree, which taxed my time, energy and mental health.

Until a few days ago, I had always planned to make this right with TSP. I kept telling myself “I just need one more day to finish this work, then I will get caught up with NS,” “Just one more day / a few more hours” and so on. I was waiting for a burst of energy and ability that never came, and in this I think that I have deluded myself. Truly what I managed to do was somewhat clog up the Executive. I am aware that recall efforts are underway, and I don’t begrudge it in the slightest. I cannot begin to apologize enough for my conduct.

With that and the needs of the Coalition in mind, I am announcing that:

  1. I hereby resign from the office of the Prime Minister, and wish the CRS-chosen caretaker and next elected PM the best.

  2. I will be taking an approximately two-week long leave of absence from NationStates broadly. In an emergency, I can be reached via DM.

  3. Upon my return, I do intend to resume my duties to the SPSF.

I will join the chorus to say that I am very sorry for your loss, and that I wish you nothing but the best. Real life should always come before NS, but we will all be here for you when you return.
