Reconciled proverbs

This game is simple. You will post a proverb (or saying, I am not having a debate about what a proverb is) and the next person posts a proverb directly contradicting yours. A third person (neither of the people who posted a proverb) will create an explanation of why both proverbs can be true. Here is an example:

Person 1: Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Person 2: Out of sight, out of mind.
Person 3: Absence puts out small desires but makes big ones bigger, as wind can extinguish a torch but fan a fire.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime
