ProfessorHenn for Prime Minister 6

Folks, welcome back.

Fairly simple campaign. I mostly want to work FA and Integration this term. Hoping to set things up this term for future PMs to work as they would like. I don’t intend to run for PM again for a long while.

Sections represent my vision for the Ministries I hope to have in the upcoming term, WA not withstanding.

Foreign Affairs

We have been on a backburner here as of late. This should change. Our historic strength was as a branch between defender regions like XKI, and independent regions like TNP, seeing as how we came later on in the game to our current formal defender alignment. While that time has past us, for a variety of reasons that some enterprising PhD student could write about, we should still secure for ourselves a spot similar to that in the new dynamic of the game post-Frontiers. We can and should do more to build and maintain relationships with regions not traditionally involved in GP, while also streamlining and clarifying our existing relationships with allies, treatied partners, and friends.

Integration

The work done here has been fantastic and I really don’t have many notes on what to change, other than that it should continue and we should do everything we can as a community to help them out. This is how we keep the lights on in the future. We should not squander it now. This includes recruitment, and the continued push on keeping our TGs sent out as high as we can manage.

Culture

Shout-out to Trivalve for SwanVision and Age of Utopia for Government Island Cartography this past term. We still have more cartography to do (), but we can keep up a press with other RMB-involved activities as folks come to me/us about them. Let’s see if we can manage a rock-paper-scissors tournament with some friends, and other crazy wacky things we could do on gameside.

Defense

SPSF is in dire straits and needs a revival. While I have someone in mind for this role already, please join the SPSF if you are able and help out with getting this organization back on its winning track.

Let’s keep doing good things as we approach a summer lull, and take advantage of this time to retool ourselves and get ready for a push into recruitment and active integration after the next few elections.

Do you currently have any plans on how you would encourage more people to join and participate in the SPSF?

I don’t want to commit to any huge plans, since I couldn’t commit to executing them out at this time myself (update is at a terrible time for me and that’s the SPSF’s operating area), but I would absolutely love to host war games on a regular basis to sharpen chasing skills and anti-tag raid skills, and have more tangible rewards for that work such as cards (if we can nail a cards program) and vanities like changing the regional flag.

The most important question of all!

What party do you align with?

Ice cream, although I stand as a friend to all who accept the diversity of desserts within our ranks.

I think this is a great idea! Would you consider opening new embassies with regions that share similar values? Also, what are your thoughts on closing embassies with dormant regions? For instance, we currently have an embassy with Caer Sidi , a region that has, in their own words, “ceased its association with NationStates” and is now password-protected. Would you be open to reconsidering the possibility of reestablishing an ambassador program?

I’d also like to ask, in your view, what sets you apart from BlockBuster? The fact that they haven’t posted a campaign yet and there hasn’t been a debate makes it a bit harder for me, as a voter, to evaluate the candidates in this election. If they do eventually post a campaign, I’ll be asking them the same question. Finally, since you’ve served as Prime Minister before, is there anything you would approach differently this time compared to your last term?

Absolutely. At this point, we’ve largely established some form of relations with the majority of regions that share our values but there’s always more discussion and dialogue to be had about those we haven’t yet reached out to, whether as a deliberate choice or not.

Also yes. Caer Siri previously pulled a switch-up in receiving a regional commendation with the support of the defender regions in the WA before announcing a treaty with BoM the next week, so I have no qualms about closing that embassy. If there are other ideas in mind I’d love to talk about them with the FAC.

Yes, although this one requires a more precise conversation and decision to ensure we are not wasting folks’ time that are interested in foreign affairs work. Ambassadors in the traditional sense are just busy work folks, but I think there’s room for that form of outreach without being a newspaper distributor.

With all respect to my fellow PM candidate, I couldn’t say. I’ve only seen and known them in Assembly leadership, whether as Deputy Chair or the head honcho themselves, and the way they ran their Presidiums were very impartial/administrative. The PM’s role, to me, is emphatically the opposite, so I’m not sure where they would fall on a number of issues. I do hope they post a campaign with their vision for the region, as opponents of a winning PM usually find their more popular ideas in the next administration anyways. Community’s too small to alienate folks otherwise, haha.
