President Blanc blocks legislation for a reduced working week, stating that due to post war rebuilding the country is not yet ready for reduced manpower. The legislation now sits in legal limbo, where it cannot be implemented until the President ratifies it, but it has not been vetoed.

BREAKING NEWS
To the great surprise of the entire country, every MP in Parliament included, Prime Minister Erickson has announced no General Election for December. It remains to be seen when the General Election will be set in 2027, with no word on this yet from the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister has announced her resignation from her office as Prime Minister but also no timeline for stepping down and has committed to remaining the Prime Minister until a successor can be elected. She has implied that might be beyond the next General Election but she is pushing it out as far as she can to ensure there will be someone running for Prime Minister. The Prime Minister served as Deputy Prime Minister from 2005 to 2006 and on and off from 2007 to 2010 and has served as Prime Minister since 2025.
Mister Speaker Philip Horn has also announced his resignation as Speaker. The Speaker served as Speaker from 2005 to 2010 and since 2022. He has said, much like the Prime Minister’s announcement, he is committed to remaining the Speaker until a new Speaker can be elected which may also be beyond the next General Election. Such announcements have never happened before and MPs are unsure of what this means for the Government.

In a significant U-turn, Prime Minister Erickson has announced the 2027 General Election will take place in September 2027. She said she will announce a date for this election in 2027 but she thought she’d get the ball rolling now and announce the election.
MPs have heavily-criticised the Prime Minister’s indecisiveness at calling the election and recall the last Prime Minister who was very outgoing and said things as they were, Prime Minister Edward Russell, who served as Prime Minister from 26 March 2005 to 18 June 2005, they are saying, this afternoon, it is time to give Edward Russell a call and get him back into the role of Prime Minister.
Woody Lutz has resigned as Deputy Prime Minister with immediate effect blaming no confidence in the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister has appointed Jordana Blair in his place.
President Elliott has confirmed he will stand again for election as President of Qaweritoyu in the 2028 Presidential Election. Elliott served as interim President for six months up to the 2021 Presidential Election and was elected in that election and has served as President since, having got a landslide victory, beating Manuel Ortega who, himself, was an interim President for six months in 2020. Many have applauded the President’s decision to stand again, saying that with a very unstable Government currently in power, his stability as President has been appreciated. 2028 would be his final term as President under terms set out in the Constitution.

In another significant move, MPs have leapt to the Prime Minister’s defence. The Prime Minister’s two announcements close together yesterday seemed to suggest she’s been put in an impossible position. MPs are now blaming former Prime Minister Cecil Walton for this. They are now saying that if Walton (Prime Minister, December 2023 to May 2025) had not resigned and left so suddenly, the race to replace him might not have been so rushed. Opposition MPs stated during urgent questions that the Prime Minister did not deserve to be in this position.
In a rare move today, the Leader of the Opposition sided with the Prime Minister. She said that if it was her in office as Prime Minister, she would not know what to do right now and the Prime Minister is doing very well to power on amongst so much uncertainty. She went so far as to say the office of Prime Minister had become a poisoned chalice and that the Prime Minister could go down in history as the one who did it when no-one else wanted to. She said they are the Opposition, their job is to oppose the Government and they will continue to but they can now lean back a bit and let the Prime Minister work and this has never happened before in 62 years of the Republic, where no-one has wanted to be Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Erickson thanked the Leader of the Opposition for her remarks, confirmed she is holding office for now because no-one else wants to do it, but said it is important that the country remains a democracy and that the election planned for September 2027 goes ahead as announced.
Deputy Speakers Hetty Ramos, Gretchen Harris, Eli Logan and Kanye Baker have announced their resignations, also, but have also vowed to stay serving until the Speaker leaves office. Only Deputy Speaker Ian Trujillo has yet to resign.
Deputy Speaker Trujillo said he has no plans to resign as of now. He also said he has no plans to run to be Speaker but he is happy to assume the role of Interim Speaker if needs be.
Deputy Speaker Trujillo has offered concerned members of the public some encouragement. He encouraged MPs and the outer general public to be brave. The Deputy Speaker said this is not a walk-out or a shut down.
Mister Speaker Philip Horn has admitted the current electoral system is not fit for purpose and needs an overhaul, which is why there is probably no new Speaker coming in the 2027 General Election but he said the process of revamping is now well under way between himself and the Deputy Speakers, the Government is also holding them to account so they have to progress, and so is the Opposition.
These are some of the biggest changes ever to take place in the history of the Republic.
With another volley of resignations in Qaweritoyu’s politics, the Royal Bank of Stoinia has advised the nation to further withdraw any assets from the Cordillian nation. BREAKING— Federal authorities in Krauanagaz have executed search warrants at the main offices of Veridian Dynamics Solutions in Tatallap, and the personal homes of multiple executives. The FPA declined to comment on the nature of the investigation that prompted the search warrant.

The Leader of the Opposition is investigating this morning after an Opposition MP published an article sarcastically claiming the Prime Minister was the greatest Prime Minister of all time because of how little she has done in one year. The MP has, since, taken down the article.
The Prime Minister thanked Prime Minister Vosen for his call and for his concern regarding stability.
However, she made clear that the scheduling of elections was a matter for Qaweritoyu’s constitutional and parliamentary processes, not external recommendation. She noted that the country’s institutions were functioning, Parliament continued to sit, and government business continued uninterrupted.
She added that any decision on elections would be made in accordance with domestic legal procedures and the judgement of the appropriate authorities, rather than in response to external pressure.
Deputy Prime Minister Jordana Blair, in her capacity as Minister of Economy and Planning, noted the Royal Bank of Stoinia’s advisory and the concerns it raised regarding recent political developments.
She acknowledged the assessment but stated that Qaweritoyu’s core economic structures remained stable, with fiscal and monetary systems continuing to operate under established institutional safeguards.
Separately, the Minister of Economic Development, Enterprise, Telecommunications and the Rainy Day Fund also responded, emphasising that investment conditions in Qaweritoyu remained fundamentally sound, and that ongoing policy work was aimed at reinforcing long-term confidence, innovation, and resilience across key sectors.
Both ministers underlined that while external commentary formed part of the broader investment landscape, it should be weighed against the country’s continued operational stability and economic fundamentals.
