Breaking: Mortar Round Strikes Open-Air Market in Alkantara, Dozens of Casualties Reported

Alkantara, Kevpríg — A mortar round has struck an open-air market in southwest Alkantara, resulting in numerous casualties. The incident occurred at the corner of Pahd Kokabi and Pahd Sentro, in the bustling marketplace district, just minutes ago. Authorities are currently responding to the scene, and the city’s Department of Public Safety has confirmed that dozens of casualties are being rushed to local trauma centers.

Initial reports suggest that militants may have fired the mortar round during an ongoing engagement with South Cordilian Joint Counterterrorism Task Force (SCJCTF) forces just 4.8 kilometers from the city’s limits. It appears that the round was errantly overfired, hitting the marketplace where civilians were shopping.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene following the explosion, with market stalls and goods scattered across the area alongside victims of the blast. Emergency services and local police quickly responded, securing the perimeter and assisting the injured. Medical teams are working to triage victims and transport them to hospitals.

The Federal Police Agency (FPA) has launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on the militant groups involved in the combat operations near Alkantara. Authorities have urged residents to avoid the affected area and allow emergency responders to carry out their work.

The explosion has caused significant damage to the marketplace, and authorities are assessing the extent of the destruction. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of Alkantara’s residents as militant activity in Southern Krauanagaz continues to escalate.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The public is advised to stay clear of the area and follow local news for updates on the ongoing emergency response and the evolving situation in Alkantara.

The Ladaziki æt Zaziknaz— a legal ruling on a point of Zhukva law given by a qualified Zhukva jurist in response to a question posed by a private individual, judge, or government— that declares Emperor Haruki Quirin to be a, “heretic Azvir,” effectively condemning him as an “unperson” in the eyes of the Zhukva faith and the Zuhlgani state. In response to the Akarinans vacating the Transcrabian Sea, Ikaranara has re-added Akarina to the list of accepted states within the Bay of Spiders, meaning the Ikaranarean Navy will no longer shadow Akarinan military ships in the bay. The Ikaranarean government has expressed sighs of relief, the Foreign Minister stating that “Social conditions in Zuhlgan are not up to modern standards in any fashion, but starting a regional war would have not made things better- in fact, you can be assured that it would have made things much worse.”

Gorovo Alertz was asked what he thought about the Akarinan response to Zuhlgan’s Ladaziki æt Zaziknaz. He had this to say:

“Akarina is a rogue state. We obviously find both measures to be in bad taste, but the current task to keep Akarina’s insanity contained within its own borders has largely succeeded. As for the Zuhlgani religious measure; it is obviously symbolic. The chances of a state like Zuhlgan enforcing a religious measure on the head of state of another nation by force, especially one as distant as Akarina, is laughable at best. Even if they could, they would find themselves unwelcome in the Bay of Spiders.”

In more sane news, Ikaranarean economists have expressed interest in trade discussions with Prydon, due to Ikaranara’s large energy reserves and Prydon’s need for fuel.

Ozákla, Zuhlgan — Per Zuhlgani state media Zuhlgan has withdrawn dozens of navy ships from the Transcrabrian Sea back into port after Akarina heeded Zuhlgan’s demand to vacate their territorial waters. Zuhlgan’s state media also reported that martial law has been suspended in all areas it was implemented. Apovi Ibinete, Zuhlgan’s military chief, stated that Zuhlgan’s air force would remain on high alert, and that Zuhlgan’s air defense systems would remain active for, “the foreseeable future.” Ibinete also announced the deployment of what he called construction units to the Krauanagaz-Zuhlgan border. Krauanagaz refutes that characterization of the deployment with Krauanagazan Secretary of State, Darius Korin stating, “we wouldn’t take issue with the deployment of construction units to the border, Zuhlgan has the right to build what they want in their territory. It’s just that you don’t build things with howitzers and handguns. The idea that these are ‘construction units’ is a misrepresentation at best.”
