Preliminary reports, now confirmed by the Federal Police Agency (FPA) and Mitalldukish authorities, indicated that border guards opened fire on a group of Krauanagazan refugees after an altercation, leading to a chaotic and deadly scene. Since then, additional eyewitness accounts and official statements have shed light on the chaotic events.

According to several witnesses, tensions had been building at the crossing for several hours due to an hours-long backlog of refugees attempting to enter Mitallduk.
