Zuhlgan Announces Military Deployments Along Krauanagaz Border for ‘National Security’

In response to ongoing violence in Southern Krauanagaz, the Zuhlgani government has announced the deployment of an additional 1,250 Dominion soldiers to the border with Krauanagaz. The move comes after the Zuhlgani government recently increased military spending, purchasing 350 new tanks and 80 fighter jets.

Tensions between the two nations have flared following The Scope’s bombshell reporting on Project Phoenix, and Zuhlgan’s airstrikes on Pohnarras. The Scope’s reporting alleges that the FDIA had been conducting an operation through the, now expelled, Ambassador Kapalan and the Krauanagazan Embassy. The Zharan administration has adamantly denied that they authorized the operation. In a statement the Executive Press Secretary emphasized, “The Krauanaet did not authorize this operation, nor would he ever approve of an espionage operation to be conducted via a Krauanagazan embassy.” According to the Executive Press Secretary the administration was not informed of the existence of this operation until the news broke of it in The Scope. “Traditionally incoming administrations are briefed on all ongoing and upcoming intelligence operations,” says Krauanagazan historian Peter Kakolov, “so either someone is not telling truth, or something is very wrong here.”

As tensions in the region continue to escalate, Krauanagaz State Deptartment officials have expressed concerns about Mitallduk’s political climate. As the date of Mitallduk’s general elections approaches, voters seem to be drifting far to the right of the current Mitallarkava. This is illustrated in KM candidate, Daman Kullan’s, neck and neck loss in the most recent primary contest. Kullan lost to far-right Intendant Ya’oran Gallai, who has on various occasions criticised the current administration and has stated that he would withdraw from the Münnen Protocols negotiated earleir this year in Eflad. According to politial analysts, some of the shift in voter sentiments is due to an influx of Krauanagazans across the Mitallduk border after it was opened in March. The influx in emigration to Mitallduk is due in large part to the uptick in militant activity, and terrorism which has sowed fear among the Krauanagazan populace. Mitallduk has also faced militant activity in Med Karazh, where on January 31 a Red K suicide bomber boarded a bus and detonated an explosive device killing 27 and injuring 12. With Krauanagaz seemingly taking a more proactive approach to containing recent militant activity, and the expansion of the South Cordilian Counterterrorism Task Force (SCCTF) Krauanagazan Secretary of State, Darius Korin, hopes to restore stability in the Kraudukra and Gulf regions by late November.
