The ships of the four task forces converged nearby to the hyperlane of Euripides-Panasu. They each had taken different routes as to not arise suspicion from any of the nations not working with the FTA of this endeavor.

“Someone snitched the fleet comp of the United Panasu Navy.”

“How many allied reinforcements are coming? If the briefings are right, this will be a death sentence without friendly assets.”

“How long are we talking? I don’t want to be here for six months like when we sat in Blazefelt Pass’ orbit waiting for something that never came.”

“We’ll get through this, and we’ll be waiting for at least a few days.”

In the Voidgate system a massive force, 200 ships, excluding the troop transports and supplly vessels in total, was being amassed. The High Command and the Ministry were planning this operation for at least a month. The FID (Federal Intelligence Department) has been hard at work recently, activating various sleeper cells, sending drones and looking for any weak links in Panasu’s chain of command. And it paid off. A large amount of intelligence fell into their hands, but the biggest achievement wasn’t theirs. The FTA managed to get their hands on the complete composition of the Panasu United Navy. Combine this with the decades of experience amassed during skirmishes and counter raids, it was clear that the time to strike was now.

The two fleets, 100 ships each, were under the command of Admiral Morgan Peterson, previously commanding the Voidgate garrison and Admiral Friedrich Sternberg, previously in command of the Home Defence Fleet. Friedrich was the Federation’s most experienced and skilled Admiral, known for his cold and calculated personality.

For this operation the Ministry has authorized the usage of various X-series (meaning experimental) equipment was authorized for usage and mass production. There wasn’t enough time to outfit all vessels and troops with it, but still a pretty sizeable chunk. It was state of the art equipment, being only rivalled by pre-collapse Gaian and, in few areas, Alarian equipment.

“A few of you have taken part in punitive expeditions before. Those were small, quick raids. Get in, shoot some ships and a station or two, maybe raid a settlement and get out. But this is going to be nothing like it. The pirate activities of Panasu will no longer be tolerated. We will destroy every single remnant of their failed state! And may this message travel far and wide to every corner of the Sector, that the Federation will not negotiate with pirates!” Admiral Friedrich gave his speech, as was the Federation’s long-standing tradition. The whole crew and troops, even his fellow Admiral, cheered, ready to end the pirate menace once and for all.

“Are you sure we can do this? I looked over the data and their fleet is much more stronger then we thought. Including these Alarian ships, they gave us quite a hard time last year.” It was Z, the 2nd Fleet’s analytical AI.

“Get your shit together Zachary! Time for doubts was 2 weeks ago when commanders for this operation were selected. We are going in and we are going to come out victorious, like we always do. These savages don’t stand a chance. And besides, half the sector is joining in. There is absolutely no way we are going to lose this. At least you retained enough reason left to whine on a private channel.” The response came from Sally, the 1st fleets analytical AI. Her and Friedrich were a perfect match, both cold and disciplined, always putting duty above all else.

“I already told you to use my full name. And unlike you, some of us have emotions.”

“Just stay focused and do your job Z. You’ve got jump calculations?”

The full fleet jumped into the Euripides system and was already on their way to meet up with their allies.

Promethia joined the plans basically as soon as it was informed of them. After being in isolation for most of it’s existence this was a good chance to prove itself as a force to be reckoned with.

Except the main goal of destroying the free port Promethia and Greenhaven had one more important mission: stop Alarian from interfering. There was no doubt that they would try, Panasu was just too profitable to let fall. Promethia dedicated 100 ships to move to Greenhaven to act as defenses, as well as stationing the Sula fleet in Kato, near the hyperlane to Alaria.

1 month prior to the operation

VOIDGATE-PROMETHEUS HYPERLANE, VOIDGATE

The 100 strong Greenhaven flotilla stood on the edge of the hyperlane, preparing to pass, spearheaded by the battleship PNS Elpis. This will be the first time promethians would enter their martyred home system since the exodus over 300 years ago.

“Admiral, the whole fleet reports all systems ready, waiting your order to cross.”

Admiral Cassia Pontia Dio hesitated for a moment, but then gave the order:

“Order given, take us back to our cradle, Tacita.”

“With pleasure, admiral, order sent to the whole fleet”

The moment the fleet passed trough the hyperlane the whole bridge crew of the Elpis stood up, saluting their long gone home. The ship priests chanted: Salve promethia, salve mater dilecta…

The 100 ships of the main fleet entered Euripides from Voidgate. They ware under the command of admiral Sextus Lucius Scipio, descendant of the legendary admiral Lucius Aemilius Scipio.

“This is the battleship Lucius Scipio, flagship of the promethian navy, representing the combined promethian anti-piracy force. We have entered the system and are moving to the agreed meeting point. Anti piracy coalition do you copy?”

LCDR Ryker Valena has commanded a few Frigates before, but this is his first Task Force Command for PKCOM.

“Let’s start spinning our jammers. Split up with your designated escorts, and let’s get rolling. 6-1, apprehend Civilian Traffic, if they make a run I’m authorizing Deadly Force.”

The ships of Peony split up, jammers hot. Across the gate, Hyacinth enters the gate.

The 2nd Fleet jumped scross the hyperlane to Panasu. It was comosed of 50 destroyers, 20 cruisets, 15 heavy cruisers and 5 battleships and their accompanying supply ships. They were disigned to be able to restock ships mid-combat, often giving the Fedration an edge during long, drawn out battles. Leading it was a battleship, TFS “Ceasar”.

“Deploy scanning probes and advance further into the system. 1st Fleet will jump in in fifteen minutes, we don’t want to clog up the exit. When they arrive, we hunt for their main fleet.” Admiral Peterson gave out orders ina quick and impatient manner. He was visibly on edge, just like everybody.

“I’d recommend a slower advance. The pirates are kniwn for mining their hyperlanes. It will take time to get a precise scanner reading on their position.” Z chimed in on the comms.

“Very well, get our probes working on it, but the ships’ scanners on lookout for enemy vessels and missles. Alert our allies of this. We wouldn’t want to give away our position too early because somebody forgot to perform a scanner sweep.”

After the designated time, the 2nd Fleet arrived in the system. It had the exact sane composition as the 1st and was lead by TFS “Bismarck”, another battleship.

“Sally, situation anylisys.”

“The 2nd Fleet is in position, but unable to move forward as they are conducting a scanner sweep. Panasu pirates are known for utilising minefields which might be the cause why it takes so long.”

“Deploy scanning drones and start scanning for minefields. The faster we get it done the less time they will have to prepare.” Admiral Friedrich hoped to take out the pirate fleet in a one, decisive battle, but it most likely won’t happen. These pirates would attempt ambushes and partisan warfare the moment they realised how big of a force they were dealing with. But that was no reason to make it easier for them.
