[PASSED] [A2512.01] Amendment to the Elections Act (SPSF Eligibility)

Distinguished Members of the Assembly:

While reviewing the Elections Act, I identified a potential issue with the wording in § 3(4)(d), particularly in relation to changes introduced by [2539.AB] regarding limitations on gameside voter eligibility. The current language stipulates that voters must be members of the WA at the start of the nomination period for the office of Delegate, or, if they are members of the SPSF, must be on deployment at the conclusion of the regional poll for their votes to be valid.

The concern I have, though I am not deeply versed in r/d so I may be mistaken, is that SPSF members who are on deployment when the nomination period begins, but not at the end of the regional poll, would be excluded from voting. Prior to [2539.AB] this would not have been an issue, as SPSF members who were no longer on active deployment could rejoin the WA on their TSP nation.

To address this and ensure that SPSF members on deployment at the beginning of the election period retain their voting eligibility, I propose the following amendment.

I’m sorry if I sound uninformed but I’m not that familiar with game mechanics. Is this not still the case or did something change?

This is still the case. What Erstavik is fixing here is the situation where an SPSF member is on deployment at the beginning of an election period and returns from deployment in the middle of it. Technically, under the current provision, they wouldn’t be able to vote because a) their WA nation wasn’t located in the South Pacific when nominations began and b) they are not on active deployment at the conclusion of the regional poll.

Oh, no objections then.

I move that we proceed to a vote on the amendment.

Is there a second to the motion?

I second the motion.
