Delegate’s Address
Hello fellow South Pacificans!
This is my first address to you since being re-elected Delegate about three weeks ago. I would first like to thank my fellow South Pacificans for being so supportive to me thus far, and I hope that I can continue to serve you well as Delegate in this new term.
I intend on delivering updates as I serve out this full term as Delegate via telegram, dispatches, and on the TSP forum. I want to use these updates to bring attention to current happenings in region - hopefully in a sufficiently concise and enjoyable manner. These updates will hopefully be monthly at the very least, or more frequent if the need arises. This address serves as the first such update.
To get us started, let me report on some news pertaining to our regional government:
- As was promised in his election campaign, Prime Minister @HumanSanity has delivered the first bi-weekly Cabinet Update, which you can take a look in dispatch form here.
I highly encourage every interested South Pacifician to read (and upvote for visibility) that dispatch to find out what our Ministers have been up to since the start of term.
Of particular interest to the gameside community is the end of the Pollmaster position, with the Ministry of Culture taking over the publishing of polls again during this current term. I invite all South Pacificans to read the relevant post on this decision from our PM on our forum here.
- Our Assembly has been busy at work this month. I will highlight two notable discussions that have gone to, or are currently at vote.
First, our Assembly approved PM @HumanSanity’s nomination of @Utopia as Admiral of the South Pacific Special Forces. You can read the nomination here.
Second, the High Court recently ruled that campaign topics (which are legally required to be posted by candidates running for PM or Delegate) can be posted any time in a five-day window after declarations open, and this includes a two-day window after declarations close. As such, an amendment to the Elections Act has been proposed to require that these topics are posted during the three-day declaration period, and is currently at vote. You can read the amendment topic here: here.
Next, some things I want to highlight as Delegate:
- If you are a TSP WA resident or a SPSFer, you can take part in discussions on World Assembly legislation and vote on how I vote in the World Assembly, and I encourage you to do so, especially given that we’re well on our way into the new world of post-GA reset legislating here.
The Office of World Assembly Legislation (OWL) posts analyses as well, which I encourage you to read when they are posted. For example, this one by OWL Director @eternalraven213 here.
- As Delegate, I currently run the 87.7 on the NS Dial music suggestion feature on our World Facebook Entry, which I try to update once a week. I invite all of you to send your suggestions in, either on the forums (here) or by telegramming me if you are unable to do so. I want to pick a variety of music from different genres and submitted by different users, and your suggestions are always more than welcome.
Finally, some extremely important dessert-related discussion: I am appalled that @DivineOwl would accuse me of betraying ice-creamism. This Delegacy remains pro-ice cream, even if the Delegate might actually eat other desserts over time. I recently had some cake from a bakery (actually, a vending machine that serves cake, interestingly enough), which led to this RMB post of mine. It was okay, but it was clearly inferior to ice cream. I just had some black sesame ice cream, which is very nice (not too sweet). ![]()
As always, I welcome your questions if you have any (via telegrams on NationStates or by reaching out to me (@lordnwahs) on Discord). I might feature interesting questions from you in the next update!
Thank you for reading, and have a great day ahead!
