Lucasson for Delegate of the South Pacific

Hey everyone, this will mark the start of my campaign for Delegate

The office of Delegate is not a political one, but still an important one. As Delegate, I will faithfully abide by the orders of the Government, and assist them with any request that they may have.

Although, there is something I would like to chance. The Delegate of the South Pacific holds roughly 400-450 votes in the World Assembly, but I believe WA nations must have more influence to how those votes are used. Therefore, I will request the Prime Minister, the Director of the Office of World Assembly Affairs, and the legislators of the South Pacific, to make a place/program where active WA nations, or citizens (whatever they decide) can vote on upcoming voted in the World Assembly. As Delegate, I promise to always vote with what they decided. Between the time it takes to get this implemented, or if this is not achieved entirely, I will abstain from voting for at least one day. After that day, I will vote with whatever the majority of the South Pacific is voting for at that time.

Why Lucasson as Delegate?

I am completely neutral, I have never been in a party affiliation in my time as legislator. I have never nominated someone in an election, not because no one is competent (the opposite), but because I am neutral. I will continue doing this if I’m elected Delegate.

How you run your NS nation is completely separate from Region Governance, but it does that something about my way of leading. My country is in the top 3% of political freedom in the South Pacific, and enjoys very good civil rights. Wherever I have influence, I will continue to promote them.

Conflicts of Interest:

Legislator, citizen

I’m not online all day, if you want someone to respond in a minute, I’m sorry, I’m not your guy.

Lucasson is the only nation I have, I was founded in The South Pacific, and have never been in another nation.

I trust the South Pacific to make a great choice as their next Delegate, PM, and craziest person. If you have any questions, feel free to ask

Love from Lucasson

Respect. I’ll have questions later

The delegate is a position that requires a significant amount of trust, due to the inherent mechanical power of the delegacy. How do you plan to establish or reinforce trust in you?

What is your experience with the WA, and knowledge on its rules and procedures for new proposals?
How well do you think you would be able to answer questions about the game from new nations who telegram you, or who would reply to a welcome telegram by you?

A lot of what you’re proposing seems to be covered in some way in World Assembly Act. Were you looking to change the WA Act, or not aware of it?
What is your knowledge and opinion on what the delegate does in TSP’s government?

How soon, on average, do you think it would take for you to appoint or dismiss a regional officer, if given an executive order to do so?

Very importantly, I noticed you don’t have discord, which is a very important channel of communication. I’d be very hesitant to appoint someone who doesn’t have discord. Would you be able to make a discord account/join TSP’s discord server? If you’re unable to, how do you plan to assuage these concerns over communication.

Thank you for those questions, I appreciate it.

My plan to establish trust is indeed something that comes with being an ā€˜inexperienced’ candidate. I will faithfully follow the orders of the Government, and continue endorsing all newly joined nations. (I do that right now, roughly once or twice a day. So you’ll see Lucasson somewhere around the top of the list of nations endorsing them

I have had nations before in NS and the WA. It’s been more than two years ago, and all have ceased to exist. I read all the NS rules, and was have actively proposed resolutions. Both resolutions were legal, but neither has received the required support. My experience comes from those three combined.

You’re right, but I want to give the WA nations of the South Pacific more influence over their votes, since they endorse the Delegate. Right now the Delegate, in my own words, follows the orders of the Prime Minister and the Government. That’s good, I favor the separation of power.

I login 2 to 3 times a day. So on average a few hours. I’m in Western Europe. When it’s night for me, I won’t keep on notifications, so then it might take a bit longer if I receive an order during early hours of the night.

Yeah, I understand. I indeed haven’t made a discord account. I would prefer to act through the forum. The reason for that is I am not a huge fan of receiving a hundred notifications a day on my electronics. I could join, (since you can turn notifications off) but that offers me no extra benefits over the forum. I prefer to follow the orders from the Prime Minister on the Cabinet and Executive Orders tab.

The forums and discord are not alternative methods of communication. They are two unique platforms of communication, and to not have one is to miss out on a significant part of the community, discussions, and information. ā€œI can just use the forumsā€ is not an adequate solution to having discord. If it was, I would not have brought up your lack of discord.

In my experience, having served as a delegate of a decently sized region in the past, and as someone who has seen how nations vote in the WA in general, the majority of WA nations vote according to their native delegate’s vote and in the absence of that, the rest of the WA. To leave the delegate’s WA vote to the whims of random WA nations who do not involve themselves in the rest of our community, who do not put care into their decisions, and who have a total absence in their knowledge of FA and WA politics, would leave our vote effectively at the whims of whichever WA voting block is winning the vote. This is not an acceptable outcome, and entirely undermines the idea of giving TSP nations influence over our delegate vote, as it places an unacceptable amount of influence into the hands of foreigners who do not have our interests at heart. Our current method of conducting voting on our discord, which only takes into account the voice of people who care, is far better.

Unless there is heavy FA politicking, a resolution that has not been drafted on the forums will find the large delegate against it. Proposals that are not campaigned for will not reach quorum (barring exceptional circumstances).

You have not built up the trust I would want to have in someone before I am comfortable with them as delegate.
The delegacy may appear as an easy position, all you have to do is vote in the WA as decided by OWL, appoint ROs when asked, and endotart for the most part. That appearance is not false either, the delegacy is indeed an easy position. However, while easy, the delegacy is not an entry-level position. Given the inherent mechanical power of the delegacy, it is a position that should only be given to those who have built up trust, who have invested enough time, energy, effort, and emotion into TSP that to betray it would be unthinkable.
I bear no knowledge to inference into your heart. Before I would even begin to consider anyone for delegate, I would expect to see them engage in our community, participate in our government, and show the care that I have seen so many of our members put into our region. To believe that you can be elected to the delegacy, and build up that trust once elected misunderstands the nature of the trust that is being looked for. You must have earned the trust already, the delegacy is not the place to build that trust. Please engage in our community far more than you have before you run for delegate again.

Hello Lucasson, just one question for ya. If you were to be elected delegate do you promise to consistently update the 87.7 NS Dial?

What is the biggest role you held in TSP or another region?

That would be fun yeah

I’ve never held a political role in Government, but I am a sitting legislator.

This allows me to be a completely neutral and an non-partisan delegate

I am dropping out of the race for delegate, and endorsing Erstavik instead.

While being sad to do so, I am impressed by Erstaviks campaign, his proven record and time commitments which I simply can’t match. He did enough to earn my vote, and if someone else deserves my vote there is little point in me running. We had a little chat after I declared my nomination, and he has been nothing but kind to me.

Erstavik, All the best
