Last Breath of Spring (1977)

Alexander slowly drifted out of sleep, feeling the gentle touch of spring rustling his hair. He rubbed his eyes and made to sit up in bed, suppressing the urge to yawn as he stretched. It always was such a bother when he forgot to close the window. Most of Yttria was ironically dry, but it could still get uncomfortably humid in Iona. His mother would disown him if she heard he was “air conditioning the neighborhood.” He chuckled to himself. The smell of spring on the air almost made it worth it.
Alexander had to tear himself out of his thoughts and remind himself that it was a Thursday and he had to get ready for work. That wasn’t so bad though, at least he had a job. That’s more than his parents had when they were his age. They had sacrificed a lot for him to have these types of opportunities. He looked forward to seeing them on Tuesday, it had already been far too long since the last visit.
