This is an election for Delegate of the South Pacific conducted under approval vote.

IMPORTANT - READ BEFORE VOTING
Failure to follow these instructions will render your vote invalid.
  1. This election is held under approval vote, so you must select all the candidates whom you approve or, alternatively, the option to re-open nominations; voting for a candidate and the option to re-open nominations or ranking candidates is not allowed.

  2. You may only vote for candidates already listed on the ballot and with the names as written on said ballot; voting for unlisted candidates or listing candidates under mistyped names or nicknames is not allowed.

  3. You may only vote during the period listed below; voting before or after that period is not allowed.

HOW TO CAST A VOTE?

To cast a vote follow the steps listed below:

  1. Open a private message to the Election Commissioner through the "Click to Open a Ballot" button below.

  2. Copy and paste the following template into your ballot:

    X | New-Halo
    X | ProfessorHenn
    X | Re-Open Nominations

  3. Mark with an "X" all the candidates whom you approve or, alternatively, the option to re-open nominations.

  4. Click for an Example

Your supposed to click on the “Click to open a ballot” box which will open up a message you send to the election commissioner.

Proclamation of Results

July 2025 Delegate Election

The whole number of citizens eligible to vote for Delegate of the South Pacific is 82; within that whole number the citizens who cast a vote are 45 and the citizens who cast a valid vote are 36.

The state of the vote for Delegate of the South Pacific is as follows:

  • Silva | 16 approvals | 44.44% of approvals

  • New-Halo | 7 approvals | 19.44% of approvals
  • ProfessorHenn | 29 approvals | 80.56% of approvals

  • Re-Open Nominations | 1 approval | 2.78% of approvals

1 citizen cast 3 ballots, of which only the first was counted as their vote. 5 votes were deemed invalid for voting IRV in an approval vote election, and 4 votes were deemed invalid for voting for both a candidate and the option to re-open nominations.
Note that under Elections Act 2(7)c., the option to Re-Open Nominations wins in place of the winners who have been approved on less than half of all ballots.

This announcement of the state of the vote by the Election Commissioner shall be deemed a sufficient declaration of the persons advancing to the gameside round in the election for the Delegate of the South Pacific.

The state of the vote shall be entered, together with the lists of votes cast, on the Election Management Portal, in due course.

Thank you, to @Silva and @UncleJoe, for being candidates in this election. We had a good debate, we put our campaigns out there at the mercy of the citizenry, and most importantly, we participated in that grand experiment of NationStates’ Oldest Democracy.

How did ron win?

By the wording of the Elections Act, in an approval vote election, the option to Re-Open Nominations wins in place of the winners who have been approved on less than half of all ballots. The option to Re-Open Nominations was thus declared the second option to advance, ahead of Silva.

It wasn’t ranked voting though.
Meaning it should be Henn and Silva

Still quite worried that 9 ballots were yet again invalidated. Find that quite high.
